LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

You don't need the stupid rods if you make the proper mods to the fender liners and bumper. I run a 275/65x18 BFG in neutral height with zero rubbing, even in -20mm with no rubbing.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

I think YOU are the "someone" and YOU should try them and let us know how it goes ! ;) All the weights add up but I found with mine that it runs almost sporty with the lighter wheels and lighter tires. The heaviest wheels I have are the factory 5 spoke from 2005 v6 and the lightest are the...

    100 vs 200

If one of the items is to lift it, I thought the LC100 was either a little limited or just not as good when lifted as compared to the LC 200 due to the design/use of torsion bars instead in the 100. I know there are "lifts" for it, but I have it in my mind the 200 lifts better or is more...

    100 vs 200

Except it's the same size for several years now... Furthermore, I had an 06 LC and I'd say the new 200 and 570' don't seem any bigger inside, but they just look bigger outside due to the body panel shaping. The wheelbase has been the same since early 2000's hasn't it? Cargo capacity is pretty...

Ooh, yes, I'd like that although my enclosed free standing Hannibal awnings are pretty darn cool too.

3/4" spacer will not be enough. 1" (25mm) minimum but 30mm like the Terrafirma will work obviously with slightly more room left inside. Which tire is your top skinny choice? BFG KM2 is available in 255/80x17 for 33" Cooper STT pro 255/75x17 for 31.9" seems perfect for 100% articulation...

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

I'm not picturing what you mean in using 3" box section to "extend" to bumper but my first thought on that is it would add more distance between the winch point out front and bumper which will multiply the forces against it when winching from any off angle, which may be a bit much for the...

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

I apologize! You're correct and I should've softened my response with a sarcasm icon. I've actually been meaning to look into that cooper STT pro for a mud set-up. edit: I just looked up the cooper stt pro. wasn't aware you can get a perfectly fitting 275/65-18 ! That's kind of awesome...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

See my post. Either choice but grinding to lr3 calipers or swapping to v6 sized both front and rear. Grinding choice still requires spacers. V6 brake kit allows no spacers. "kit" sorry, for any confusion. it's just the carrier and rotors, not the calipers. It's all very annoying seeing as...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

This winter I wanted to use the Hakkapeliitta LT2 studded tire. It does come in a size I can fit with my fender liner mods 275/65-18, but I wanted to also allow use of my RUD 4x4 snow chains which would not be usable more than on flat roads mostly lifted and being careful turning, plus using...

    F/S: 2006, LR3 (Discovery 3) HSE, 130,000miles, Kitted for all Adventures $15,995USD

I think it would do your thread well to verify the locker or not. A couple ways to do this: 1-take some photos underneath up at the differential and I think from either side through the opening in the fender liner above/behind the tire when raised as high as possible. I forget what to call...

So on the one hand, those look like shT and it would give me pause to ever considering trying the LT version either. However, on the other hand, did you tell us how your lr3 is set up, as in what else is on it adding to weight? Additionally, people often have under-inflated tires and yours...

    Latest Photo?

I wish there were a simple "like" button ;) That shot reminds me of the day in 2001 I got new BFG MT on my 1996 Land Rover Discovery 1. 245/75x16. Transformed it completely off roading.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Absolutely agree. It may be that the bad experioence GY are not E load range but that probably still won't account for the high mileage most people report on BFG AT KO. I got over 75,000 on one set and only pulled them off to go larger. They had 3/8" or more tread depth left! I did do 5 tire...

How important are the various underbody protection offerings for the LR4?

Nobody ever seems to think simplistically enough these days, including myself until more recently after I started pondering: "what can I get rid of and what must I keep or replace with a more efficient solution?" I am a commercial photographer and often carry ladders so at first I assumed, I...

No matter what you think on traction in various conditions, the BFG is a higher quality/better tire all around, long term, period.

Being that the 200 series is by far a better vehicle over the 100, it must be the styling you aren't fond of, which is fine of course. If you can afford a new LR4 though, you can also afford a new LC 200 or new-ish. For US travel, even Canada, I'd feel perfectly fine going off in my LR3 or a...

As of last fall 2015, ARB only released F & R for the lr3 and F for LR4. That's why LR4 R locker is not in the catalogue.

    F/S: 2006, LR3 (Discovery 3) HSE, 130,000miles, Kitted for all Adventures $15,995USD

2 reasons primarily in my opinion: The much wider buyer market in US must deal with the Canadian border paperwork barrier which is not insurmountable, but most people just don't want to fuss with such things. The "firm" price may be a bit strong, thus not sold yet. The sweet spot not yet...

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

There's no thinking needed, a spacer would 100% fix the issue. So would a different tire. -I just remembered I have a set of briefly used Terrafirma 30mm spacers for sale. I am using tires that fit so don't really need them - although they set the wheels out just perfectly for a supremely...
