In my opinion a gear type LSD is the best for all around performance over any terrain. If you aren't lifting wheels, you'll have tons of traction and if you do lift a wheel, you can use the brakes to help it drive the tire that's on the ground.
Generally nylocs but if something proves itself likely to loosen up, I'll add loctite. Blue or red depending on what I'm dealing with. Other options are safety wire and actual lock washers like nord locks.

Also here is the link to the photo album since they all disappear from here eventually.
I've been working on the access and entry doors lately. I got the three point latches done for the access doors and finished insulating them and covering them on the inside mostly. For the entry door I used push pull cables to put the handles up high so we didn't have to crouch down to open the...
Yes it's a facebook link so they change occasionally. Here it is again.
Also this thread is a great resource.....

All this modifying of the ARB plug to still end up with a possibly iffy connection and potential to ruin the terminals trying really points to just using the right product in the first place. We're talking $15 for both anderson plugs with terminals.
Today I am about to do some surgery to the underside of the new cab for clearance to the injector lines on the Cummins. They don't hit under normal street driving but if I get it twisted up off road, one of them touches the cab and vibrates like crazy. It would eventually break I'm sure. I also...
Yup those are options for sure. I do enjoy mechanical gauges though. I can get really good pricing on all of those digital offerings and it's tempting but my overall goal for this truck is simplicity. I will have extra space on the dash for all sorts of things but those will come one at a time...
I hate MLV. I've had to rip that crap out of far too many hot rods and I've never seen much benefit from it. This is the base coat and just a start. I'm going to pack the pillars full of foam like they do on new cars and I'm coating the inside of the doors plus some foam if I can fit it.. The...
No comment on your particular setup or choice of aftermarket options but my truck is a Cummins and I fabbed a 3" tube from the turbo to a stock Dodge Cummins air filter box that I mounted up high and behind my cab. You can't really make it too big but I probably wouldn't want anything smaller...
So I went with Hy Tech coatings for the interior and underside of the can. Pretty nice stuff. The interior uses their SC1000 sound control coating and the underside will be their metal shield coating. The exterior will be Monstaliner. The camper box will get monstaliner too but the roof will be...
I would go the fiberglass route and add some tubular steel ribs inside or even find someone who does fiberglass to reinforce the top where needed. Spreading the weight out with the mounts would be a good idea too. Also use glue instead of just bolts.
I built a set of these for my npr with ford axles. I am eventually going to build a set of 17” TWF wheels. There are very limited tire options for the hummer wheels.
With appropriate final drives I’d think a tesla drive could be used front and rear. They’re a pretty simple gear setup so maybe someone could make some alternate ratios that would work well with larger tires and more weight. I’ve talked about it with my electric Porsche customer and he’s...
I believe it can be either way but we're also not using the Tesla computer, Just the ZeroEV stuff. I am learning as I go. The car owner just hands down the info on what needs to connect to what and I do it. We haven't started wiring that part yet so I'm not sure. The wires dangling in the pics...
