Not to knock the Coyote, I have 2 Coyote projects in my shop right now, but it's huge, expensive and complicated. LS engines get great economy when needed. They are also very dialed back in stock form. A 5 liter variant could easily match the HP of a coyote. It's all about state of tune and...
Yes but the LS wins at everything it does so why does it need to be more complex and expensive to build if it already dominates in every sector?
I also think packaging and center of gravity are often overlooked. You can't package on OHC engine as well or achieve as low of a center of gravity...
The out breathing part and better with more RPMs isn't even much if any advantage when a 2V pushrod engine does just fine in both departments when properly equipped. I'm not the OP but I don't see any advantage for our use.
I've got a slightly less than optimal Tesla pack from a model S. I am going to use it as house power in my camper. It weighs roughly 50lbs and will have as much amp hours as something like 6, golf cart batteries.
It's just not necessary IMO. Like you said, look at the LS platform. Why complicate something that can already be built to suit pretty much any purpose you can come up with. LS engines don't need 4 valves.
Rock Auto kicks ass. It’s that simple. Drop ships are very rare. You know exactly what you’re getting too. Just check the part number and manufacturer.
Mine is all aluminum tube and skin with foam board glued in. 1" and 2" thick walls. It's pretty darn rigid and I've enjoyed the build but if I did another I would probably do composite.
Yup. Something tall and actually skinny. I currently have H1 wheels recentered but will be building some 17" double beadlocks soon enough because there are almost no tires available for 16.5" wheels that make sense.
You can be a technician in many different fields. Oil change technician is not the same as ferrari technician for example. I am a race car fabricator and I know many many techs. I’ve never heard a tech take issue with someone at an oil change place being called a tech. I also don’t take issue...
So really you just think the kwikie lube guys don’t deserve the title. Also you shouldn’t say tard or any other version of that word in that fashion. It is considered inappropriate.
I just found a good rubber resource after my last post. The prices I was seeing elsewhere seemed high for just basic rubber strips. I emailed this place and got a very quick reply and price on exactly what I wanted.

No need for that...
Does anyone have a good source for an insulator between an aluminum box and a steel subframe? I was thinking of using polyurethane body mounts in 8 spots but have decided I would rather have the box rest on the subframe directly with some sort of foam or rubber as an insulator then use 8 bolts...
I'm planning on floating marine ply with a caulked perimeter, grooves for in floor hydronic heat then a layer something nice looking. Haven't decided what yet.
Thanks man! So far I think the answer is yes. When I took it out on some trails a while back I had it in some sticky situations with ruts and was stuck at one point. I had to winch it sideways pretty hard and steer hard to get out of the ruts and avoid smashing the cab in to a downed tree. So...
