"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

Haha, I'm working on that first notch in the belt. But I know if I notch the side of the Jeep, my wife isn't going to be too supportive. I was hoping to go late summer after most of the groups had gone through and made it easier. Also wanted to go with a couple of 80-series land cruiser guys...

Lord Al Sorna's 2014 JKUR Build Thread

#2 is interesting. In 100-series world people were always concerned about leaving at least 2.75" of "droop" because otherwise you'd run out of down travel and start lifting wheels even in street driving. #4 is the part I was wondering about. I'm happy with my AEV set up, but occasionally that...

Maybe not the best year to do it then... My goal was more to just complete it without body damage to say that I'd run it.

Great to hear! I'm kicking myself for not learning to ski last year. Do you think the fox bump stops are a big part of why it's so dialed in for high speed off-road driving?

"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

With the holidays over, and my main work client not getting back to us about what they want for the year, I've had time to start catching up on maintenance. Changed diff and T-case fluids, cleaned the air filter, added dielectric grease to all the plugs and fuses, and repaired my 3rd brake...

"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

Haven't updated in awhile. If you follow me on Instagram (@brucetherubicon) you probably already know what I've been up to. WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO: My friend and I headed up to the Kern Plateau one more time to check out the fall colors in mid October and try our hand at some fly fishing, and do...

A Nice Heavy Duty Camp "GRILL" Not a stove!! :)

Has anyone tried bringing one of these guys camping? It's the miniature version of their larger steel kamado grill. I'd think that steel would be better than ceramic for a mobile grill since it's lighter and more durable. This is still too tall to fit anywhere in my Jeep. I thought this set...

Back in a Cruiser - 200 series this time

One of the guys in our group is leading one of the CM runs on 5/2. So the tenative plan is to arrive in Moab that Saturday before. We'll see. I know the feeling. It's hard to balance my wife's vacation travel desires, with 4x4 time and not getting fired.

Back in a Cruiser - 200 series this time

Awesome truck! We're still planning to do that Utah traverse trip end of April. Let me know if you're interested. I too have the Escaper Buddies (great name) but haven't had to use them yet. They're only about an inch thicker than the stacked Maxtrax. At 1/3rd to 1/2 the price with better...

Next up are minor tweaks. Adding rotopax style water can with a spout to the spare tire since there's no where to stow my 5-gallon MWC. Adding 1/2" spacers to the rear. Figuring out some way to mount a beach umbrella to the spare tire carrier. AEV Gas caddy. I got close to needing it this...

We've noticed the same thing. A Malibu wave knocked our GSD over when she was 10 weeks old but she still loves the water. I don't think she knew she could swim until we forced her one day. This weekend, she slipped off a rock and had to swim for awhile. She did fine and was fine with swimming...

Not exactly. She prefers for her feet to touch. But she's also okay with swimming.

"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

My wife went camping with me for the first time since installing the tire carrier, 3.5 lift, kitchen set up, and 35s. She was pretty impressed with her new camp kitchen, or her "Mise en place" as she called it. We made some bomb-*** pulled pork tacos. I forgot that it was the first weekend of...

My friend is looking for the same thing. How much did you end up paying and what kind of mileage if you don't mind me asking?
