Air/Hydraulic Bump Stops and Bent Axles

My friend works/worked for Fox, I'll ask him about it. I don't really want to change my bilstein AEV shocks though.

Air/Hydraulic Bump Stops and Bent Axles

I'm not really worrying about it. And have a lot of things to attend to first. But I was wondering if this made sense.

Air/Hydraulic Bump Stops and Bent Axles

All of us JKU owners have heard the stories about smiling front axles. Supposedly, the Dana 30 and 44 axle housings aren't up to the task and bend under hard use. Somehow larger tires makes it more likely to happen. If this is actually a problem, I suspect the bending probably doesn't happen...

Aren't Dana 30s pretty common everywhere?

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

The sport transfer case would probably be better for the kind of conditions he's likely to encounter. And for the price difference, you could have a dynatrac prorock 44 front axle installed.

    Question about the Entdecker

Looks like it has a built in winch mount too. If so, that'd probably be a cheaper way to get a winch onto a G-Class than the OEM Tow pin bumper.

Two year circumnaviagtion of Africa in my 2007 JKUR - The Road Chose Me

The payload difference has nothing to do with the axles or springs. All the Wranglers have the same GVWL. The rubicon just comes with more options that eat into that payload. I agree that you could get away with a Sport. My friend is doing the same thing since he has no intention of rock...

Anyone here have a Puma 12V Air Compressor?

Oh wow. yeah. That's large. It looks like it might fit, and would probably fit on it's side with the head facing the brake fluid reservoir. But idk how long it'd last with engine heat and dust. The Puma not being sealed makes it a challenge to mount. It pretty much has to be under the hood where...

Anyone here have a Puma 12V Air Compressor?

I was about to buy a Dual Viair 400c set up or The Twin ARB, but then I remembered the Puma. I wonder if it'd fit on the brake booster on a JK. Maybe on this mount: I don't know how well it'd do with the heat though. Are Puma's sealed like Viairs? I belive Viairs are IP67. So not dust and...

Sorry to hear about your rig. Seeing what you did with a stockish JKUR was inspiring. I've had similar things happen to my land cruisers in the past. It's a huge suck. But as you and others have said, don't let it keep you down. You'll still be in Africa in no time with a better rig and...

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

Agreed. The original intention of the thread played out on the first couple pages. The premise was something along the lines of, assuming that the wrangler is the right vehicle for your needs, and that JKs seem to have some known weak spots, what would you change/modify to give your JK "Land...

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

Wow. That got off topic. I thought we were on Wayalife for a second there. I've owned both vehicles in question and have similar opinions to what Scott and Kurt have expressed. I actually made a comparison thread years ago when I first considered replacing my 100-series with a Rubicon. That...

Modding a Wrangler to Match Land Cruiser Reliability?

A lot of great ideas and opinions in this thread. This is why I love ExPo. On other forums this would have turned into a train wreck. I agree with most of the sentiments expressed here. My build plan has always been to keep it as stock as possible but as modified as necessary. So far so good. I...
