I've got the 3415010 Winch Bar on my 2010 Tundra and am running the IPF 9381FCK foglight kit.... the IPF lights are overpriced trash. The glass breaks easily from rocks, and these are a $450. I'd rather buy something a little more durable on the next go-around. Something with a plastic lens...
Tacoma is a more useful vehicle, all around. 250k is nothing on one, my dad's 3.4 4Runner has 480k and counting. Still shines like new. Personally, if it were a "keeper" vehicle I would wait and buy a clean lower mileage TRD model (120k or less). They are out there but get pricey.
No need...
Very common. Several I have owned have had that little bend at the side latches.
With only the rear latches unbuckled, and the rear door open a strong wind will lift the top and do the same thing.
It was not a race, nor were professional drivers allowed to participate.
I'm of the opinion that the definition of "overland" should be taken quite literally; Traveling over land, or in other, extremely literal words; Not traveling over roads. I would not consider most jeep trails or forest...
Can't speak for a 1st gen but I have run 3 different campers, all 900-1100 lbs of camper not including 20+ gallons of water and other gear in my 2010, no issues to speak of over ~20k miles. Last time I ran across the scales I was about 1600. lbs over GVWR loaded. A lot of that weight is tires...
Anything cheap by today’s standards will sell fast. Not many are used to or accepting of today’s standards. The current market will leave the tire kicking crowd behind, lots of other buyers out there.
A new FWC is a hell of a lot kore money new today than it was five years ago and with wait...
Re: HPOP/injectors/etc; You’re on the wrong site for technical 7.3 discussion, check out FTE.
Also good luck with that thing. Hope it is better than mine was. My 2000 7.3 was the worst vehicle I ever owned.
Snowy road trips and occasional gravel/forest roads are one thing. “Overlanding” is another. No low range, horrendous approach angle, little to no recovery gear options, not a true 4x4…
I suppose it depends what you personally consider “Overlanding” but I wouldn’t consider one of those even...
Wow lots of replies, sorry don’t get on here much.
I’m a Toyota fanboi, not looking for an X. After my 2001 Frontier I swore I’d never own a other one (dumpster fire).
I did take one in on trade though (never intended to keep) and I cannot seem to get rid of it. People seem to like them and...
What’s up with these? Why so cheap? What am I missing?
Newer used 4Runners are going for over MSRP right now. 10 year old model with 150k is still $25-30k…
Used Xterras are a dime a dozen. Like half the cost or less.
Are they really that bad of a vehicle?
I'm a little late to the party but just found out these were recalled earlier this year. Thule is picking mine up and issuing a check for full retail price. I was going to sell it anyway, so this is actually great for me.
Just FYI to anyone else who may have one; they are poorly built and may...
