04 2500 suburban build

Got the draw system cut down in length and test fitted in the back. Still need to cut down the draws.
Got some fox 2.0 for the rear and a ARB dual compressor. I ran a york 210 on my duramax with a 15 gallon tank.
Any idea of where to mount the compressor on the suburban?

left side cargo bread box / Subwoofer factory install location. Also where the scissor jack is stashed. Lot of volume there that can be re-purposed. The passenger side is full with the rear AC / heater unit and ducting.

You made all the swap work look easy.

What's the height on those drawers from the ground, ~46"?

I think it is 44". Top of the platform is 56" maybe. It is not for short people. My tools and parts stay in the right side. Left side is stays open most the time and I oad it with what ever I am doing. Camping, hunting, or just running around town getting stuff.

pretty much the same here, left side drawer is always stuffed full of on-and off-road emergency gear. right side has a 'bugout / get home' bag and is slowly filling up with more stuff, recovery strap, shackles, tow hitches, other accumulating stuff. Probably hauling around 300# worth of crap on the regular.

Got both draws cut down today. Still have to screw the top down and mount the fronts with the latches. I am also going to come up with a extension that I can flip up when the second row is folded down. I test fitted the mattress.
Also started changing out the exterior door handles with black. Also got some new mirrors to install also.

It looks like with them in the truck the drawers sat on the tailgate while fully extended. What did you do to solve that with it in the suburban? if anything.

In the truck the draw had about a half inch of clearance from the tail gate. The draw is built with skateboard bearings and 1" square tube. It holds itself up. Skate board bearings and square tube.

I have the draw system about finished. Before I mount it in the truck I need to get my ARB dual compressor mounted. Thinking about near the rear factory sub compartment. The other part of this is I run my compressor and air lockers through a SPOD. So first we need to mount the SPOD.
I ran the SPOD in my Duramax so I already had my switch bank made. If you have not looked into a SPOD you need to. The are nice units with some neat features.

I am using that area for my tool rolls and all the other small items, the jack is still in it's spot. There is a lot of room there.

I'm thinking to try and jam 6 of those switches in the space in the bottom right of the dashboard, where the pullout cupholder sometimes is. Mine had the defunct analog OnStar button there. I have 6 crappy switches there as a placeholder and early on built a new dash center console as a radio garage for ham and CB.
I also made some mods to the 1.5 DIN radio area, moved the AC controls down about 3/8" and swapped in the 2003-2006 dash bezel so I could fit in a double-din entertainment unit / dvd player.
The resulting arrangement does leave me room to put in a row of switches much like yours right under the dash bezel, on top of my radio stack. Been messing around with some aftermarket switch housings to gauge things, might need to mod the 3 12v outlets in the dash and lose the pull out ashtray. Then I can really nestle the switches back in some and give it a more factory / finished look.

Got my black door handles and tow mirrors installed. Truck looks way better. Also started to work on getting the ARB dual compressor mounted. Going to try and mount in near the rear driver side quarter panel. Tight fit but think I can make it work.
Also another photo of my truck made it on to Four Wheeler's website.

That steel support bracket doesn't really do much for the cargo interior trim, you could lose it and maybe orient the ARB pump vertically? Does it care which way it is oriented?

I also didn't recall the panel for the fuel filler being so deep / the subwoofer box being so shallow on that end.

If you haven't put it all back together yet, I'd strong encourage taking the opportunity to do some sound deadening work on the body side wall and wheel tubs. I used a few layers of peel and stick butyl rubber home construction window flashing as a poor man's 'sound mat' and it worked great. Really killed road and tire noise.
I've got a bunch of pictures of that posted here somewhere, I'll try to find / link some of them. The butyle tape is 6-7" wide. I cut it in squares or rectangles so I could readily plaster it on the compound curves of the wheel well and longer strips where I could. I basically covered all the sidewall and floor steel from the 2nd row seats all the way back and it became dead quiet back there.

eta not really good pictures, but they convey the idea. I might have better overall shots in my storage drawers build topic
