I would guess it has to do with what's under the hood.

Why back up to an old diesel when the that gas engine has served you well, gas is 40% cheaper than diesel and the Ambo is 20+ years old?

I'm with you but people still go gaga for Ford 7.3's. Plus with that Ambo you get a free 3000 miles of wiring and weekend plans for the rest of your life if you decide to clean it up!
