1953 M101A1 RESURRECTION

Sweet build! Love to see someone bring a piece of history back from the dead. On what did you base your tongue length? I am trying to determine a basis for how long my tongue should be. I am repurposing an M101A2. I ordered an 18" and 36" receiver extension...Not sure which way to go. Thanks!

COMING TOGETHER - Finally

The suspension has been completed with the final missing piece of the puzzle found, replacement shocks. Now for the electric....

I'm still working on the solve for connecting the "A" frame to the frame. As you can see from the pics, the front portion of the tongue has been attached.

TUB WORK

The tub has been media blasted and the issues have been exposed. There are a few areas that will need to be addressed, but for the most part it's in pretty good condition. My buddy has begun some patch work and adding reinforcement to the points that will be supporting the rack system. Some of the destressed areas aren't worth the effort to fix. It adds carrector anyway......

Frame looks good.
I like the taillight choice.

Will you cut the damaged tub lip out and weld in a new piece or beat it out?

CHECK OUT THE PROGRESS

Feels good........

Looks great and sits nice and level with the jeep.
I would move the license plate to the rear frame rail or tailgate.
I had mine under the lights and it was too low.

Do you have any picts of plates mounted to the tailgate of a 101? I'm in the process of figuring this part out without just drilling holes and having bolt heads on the tailgate surface.

Nice resto thread btw. That frame looks nice.

TUB WORK HAPPENING NOW

This is killing me I want to see the bed! I am trying to do the same things to my M101A1. This is helping. To bad you're to far from my area. I would be trying to use the same shops. I got to find places around here. Looks awesome! These are better posts than on Steel Soldiers!
