1980 Toyota Dolphin 4x4 RV...YES 4X4...Very Rare.

Hi folks I have a 1980 Toyota Dolphin 4x4 model RV. This vehicle is extremely rare and would obviously make a great expedition vehicle. I buy and rare 4x4's and when I saw this I had to have it.

This vehicle does need work. The motor is old and tired, the body has seen better days, and there is some evident dry rot.

The frame, suspension, axles, brakes, transmission, transfer case, clutch, power steering are all in good shape. It has a 15 gallon tank and a 30 gallon tank, but the 30 is not hooked up.

Propane stove
sink w/ newer plumbing
toilet/shower combo
fridge (can't figure out how it works)
swamp cooler works well
swing out tire carrier/rear bumper needs love
no radio
cab is in decent shape
tube front bumper with tow hooks.

This is a project, but it does run and drive.

We do restorations here if you would be interested in having us restore it, or take it home for a fun custom project suited to your needs.

I am sure you could go another ten years without seeing one of these for sale.

This was a donated vehicle buy an elderly couple (as I was told) to a vehicle yard in Sacramento, it will come with their bill of sale, and a bill of sale from me. You will need to smog it and have a brake and light inspection for California. All the lights work on it, but a few lenses will need to be replaced.

Please call me at 858-437-7078 or email me at scott.rist@hotmail.com.

Asking $3500 or best offer and I am located in Placerville, CA near Sacramento. I can help you with delivery as well.

Scott,

Welcome to Expedition Portal; before jumping right in and selling something, we here would like to know a bit about you and your rig.

Please feel free to find the appropriate forum and introduce yourself.

Also, the pictures arent showing up for me, even when I C&P from the 'properties.'

Thanks,
Gavin

I'm pretty sure you're trying to link to images within your email account - if that's the case, that will most likely not work. you need to save them to your computer and then attach them to the post.

im looking forward to seeing some pics, theres one sitting by an old building locally, and im interested in seeing the price/condition ratio of one of these. i thought it was some sort of homebrew, but i guess not.

as far as know, you dont have to introduce yourself to sell an item that people here would have an interest in.

For some reason I have always loved those Toy motorhomes... just don't know what it is about them.

If it needs a brake and light inspection it will have a salvage title, right. There was a Toyota just like the pic Scenic Wonderrunner posted at the local junkyard for sale for $3000. It had been hit hard in the front and appeared to have a bent frame as the cab doors hit the overhead camper when you tried to open them. I went home to think about it, came back the next day and it was gone.

I'm no expert.

But I am wondering if this Toyota Dolphin has a 4x4 Mod up front. (the front springs are flat by the way).

Or it was a Special order.

I have never seen a Toyota Dolphin, in 4x4 mode. I certainly could be wrong. And.... It's O.K. And I'm just sayin' because I always want to learn!

Try to find a Dolphin in 4x4 at the link above. Just one example.
