Adventurewagen was a small van conversion company owned by Ed Anderson. Ed and his wife travelled in a VW camper in Europe in the 1970s, and decided to offer something similar in USA. At first, they converted VWs, and switched to the Ford E-series vans in the 1990s when the 4th generation van was introduced. Ed's family were participants in rodeo style equestrian events, and I think he liked the E-series because it was powerful enough to tow a horse trailer. Ed closed Adventurewagen in the late 1990s, so this example would be one of the last he built.

A hallmark of Adventurewagen is the high quality teak wood cabinetry. The layout is similar to the Westfalia VW camper, with a rear seat that converts into a bed for two. The raised top allows a second sleeping area for two people. The air conditioner in the rear window looks like it was added by a third party.
