How does this rig handle in the back country? I really like this setup.
I have only had it for almost a year now. Mainly highway trips so far. Drove a couple fire roads in Elko NV last Summer. The F-450 4x4 is a beast. Toughest part is the heavy purpose dually tires; 75 psi can beat you up. I would setup a quick deflation, to drop at least 10 lbs. Or go big, and do the dually to single rear wheel conversion. I am debating on that for next year.

But honestly the setup is unbelievable and I love it. Cruising the highway at 80 mph with the cruise on in a 10K + low profile camper is awesome.

It was my understanding from reading about switching to 19.5" truck rims/tires that you could not air them down? Obviously I am not an expert but the way it was explained seemed to me that instead of sidewalls being steel belted that the sidewalls had more like steel disc, and if you air it down the steel cuts the tread off, that was their explanation for the shape of the most common blow out you see on the interstate.

Very interesting. I hadn't researched much yet but have heard airing down at all was not the best. Figured was due to the little bit of clearance between the duals. I would definitely do alot of research before airing down or doing the singles swap.

Every time you update this thread, I fall more and more in love with it
Thank you for the compliment. Same here. I have found myself standing in the parking lot, at campsites, at the gas pump just staring at it. The love is strong with this one.

Working on some rust cleanup and protection now. Also mounting traction ramp devices on the rear.

Planned to mount my 2 Rotopax water packs on the exterior, but found a good, convenient spot for them inside the passenger rear storage.

That's a whole lot of light! Might give you a tan if you stand in front of that for too long. What brand are those lights?
Hahaha. Very true, but no heat in LEDs. ;)

They are knock-offs from Amazon. Can't see ponying up what a very popular vendor wants for theirs. Fraction of the cost.

Today's quick install:
Bolt-on tractor receiver hitch + some Grade 5 hardware = a nice sturdy receiver-mounted camper steps storage spot. No more putting the dirty, awkward, steel steps in the camper or cab of truck while rolling.
This morning a new Kenwood nav headunit replaced the old 2005ish previous glitchy one. Worlds of improvement over the old one.
