would you mind let me know how much it cost to get the 4.56 for both front and rear? I was told the whole install kit is around $1275 and JT is the only one makes 4.56 for 8.4 diff.

$793.00 included everything I would need to install. Not ready for a bearing change yet :)

I think this is the first set they had. I know he mentioned that more where coming in. He had been waiting for a few weeks for the gear to come in.

Talk to Carl, that's who I talked to, super nice.

great place to deal with too.

So did you find a shop willing to regear your truck useing the old bearings? Cause if you did they must have a great insurance plan and a lot of financial backing to be able to suck up the cost of having to redo your diffs if one of those used bearings fails. I have a special tool for pulling bearings that can save the old bearings if your really carefull but there still is a chance of failer big enough for most shops to refuse the job unless you replace the bearings. Reuseing your old bearings is possible but only if you are the one doing the work, I've done it in the past to my own vehicles but it's always a gamble. I would buy the gears now and then save up for the install kit and solid spacer/shim pack to do it right then have them installed, your power loss and MPG decrease can't be that bad with almost 300 hp to make you wanna rush things.

I'll give him a call and see what's included. Thanks as always!
Alex the quote number given to me by JT is # 3748 and it's under my name, feel free to call and check it. The price was $1245 + shipping which is $30 so total is $1275. Thats front and rear gear sets, install kits, solid spacer and shim pack to replace the weak crush collar set up in the rear diff.

The reason I'm not going with new bearings yet is that the truck only has 40Kms (24854 miles) on it. I talked to the guy at JT and he said not to bother because the bearings would be fine. If I was in the 60 to 70 K I would have said to get the bearing kit too.

I hoping once the 285/70/17 go on the truck I should get a bit better mileage around town and the same on the highway. I hoping too when I pull the holiday trailer it will be a little easier on the truck. 285/70/17 @ 75mph with 4:56 = 2515, 300 more RPM that the stock wheels 265/75/17 with 3:73 gear.

As for the shop, not sure if I'll have somebody do it here or I'll do in my garage. Either way if I have to do bearings I can get them from the shop.

Thanks for the tips though :)

The biggest thing I'm happy about is I don't have to change lockers

November is a ways away, but I'm talking to Jed at Armorology. Going to see if I can pass through Colorado springs on my way back from Baja to have the back bumper made.

That way I can get to work on my Exo/roof rack in the winter time. Get my roof top tent ordered for next years Baja :26_7_2:

Any update on the boost gauge? Have you figure out where to get the boot readout?

Well, At the moment I'm having a custom fiberglass gauge pod for the A pillar made for the truck to hold all three gauges. Then once that is done, I will sort out where the boost gauge goes, there's a couple vacuum lines that come off underneath the charger, I'm going to tap into one of those when the pod is done.

Sorry for the long time in getting it things done. I have too many things on the go right now with the truck. 4:56 gears are coming soon so I have to get those in too. As well as a new 300 amp alternator to install. I've also started sorting out the rear bumper. Last weekend I was working on getting the radios and GPS mounted.

Too much at once.

I know that TaCoLiKkEr over on TTORA had the dealer install a boost gauge on his new tacoma. He might know where they mounted it.

I might be a bit longer than you like :)

Na, I'm not in a hurry.:coffee: Just want to see where to tap to get the boost readout.

You sure have a lot of things/mods going in. Take your time it's better to just do it once and correctly.
I'm too lazy and $-challenged to move fast on the mod list I've in my mind.
