2010, the FJs last year

I've been told twice now the FJ's will be discontinued, as 2010 will be the last years model. This info apparently was straight from a Toyota Engineer to my next door neighbor. Apparently they will blend the four runner and FJ into a more "in demand" vehicle.

Anyone else here this?

I believe they're calling that blended vehicle the 2010 4Runner.

It would explain why they "rugged-ized" the 2010 4runner and made it more off-road capable.

Sorry if you have one and love it, this is only my opinion so take it as that but...

Good, now maybe they'll make a real contender to the Jeep JK... (Doubtfull but I can dream eh.) God knows if they actually tried it'd probably blow the Jeep out of the water and I know us Expo'ers would love to see it...

I' am admittedly a Toyota FANATIC, but the "Fj Cruiser" (I can't belive they assosciated the name Cruiser with a stumpy hard to see out of Tacoma varriant...It was niether a J truck nor a Cruiser in any way) NEVER grew on me. I will not miss the "FJ" , to me it was just a big dissapointment, kind of like unwraping that present on X-mas you thought was something awesome to find a nice heafty roll of tube socks and underwear: Yeah you can use them, but will they ever make your heart go boom boom boom??? Not mine.

As for the 2010 4Runner, I like it... Now like I said Toyota, make a JK killer for us N.Americans or give us access to the 70 Series (I'd prefer the latter actually) I think most of us Toyota freaks here are getting a, little tired of being left out in the cold. Or at least go back to making oversized frames and burly trucks cause you;ve been doing the oposite for the last 10 years... Sorry baby, I didn't mean that... I love you Toyota baby... please... OH PLEASE!!!!!! Why must you shun us N.Americans so WHY!!!!!!!

I do not have the same complaints that others have such as blind spots, as I can see out of it clearly.

The FJ Cruiser and Tacoma are the only two new rigs that do anything for me from Toyota with the FJ being at the top for me.

IMO an off road rig should be sans carpet and no leather seats, and the FJ is built this way.
Easier to clean out after off roading or a camping trip.

I simply have the perfect rig for me and am 100% satisfied with it.

Oh man, you know it's as much a Cruiser as anything, being based on the Prado chassis. What exactly is a Cruiser anyway? As far as it being discontinued, meh, not like I was ever gonna own one anyway. Wouldn't be the first fad to have completely passed me by.

Well, after such a short production run I predict the value of the FJC's will go up at some point so if I had one I'd hang onto it... :costumed-smiley-007

One outstanding feature on the FJC that I would like to see handed down to the Tacoma and 4Runner is the all rubber floor liner sans carpet.
I agree that there are blind spots and a few quirky styling cues, and yes I have driven one

I think the blind spot thing gets blown out of proportion by those who are use to looking over their shoulders when they drive, and not using their mirrors.

I drive the FJ like a UPS driver or driver of a big rig would drive, I rely mainly on the mirrors, and I have them adjusted right.

I drive vehicles at work that you can not shoulder check like most do in cars, so I am use to driving this way with the FJ.

I've got no beef with FJC's, but if they had come with a hardtop option, you wouldn't see half of the complaints, IMO.

Saw one the other day in the tan color with black TRD wheels. Looked sweet.

It's not about specific complaints, it's that it doesn't sell well in most areas. I think many people/dealers felt that it should have been closer to the old land cruiser heritage. Although by all accounts it is excellent off road.
In the U.S. I think a more jeep-esq fj design would have been popular. But perhaps that isn't a good design for many other countries.

if toyota and nissan would just put a solid axle under our trucks, like they do in europe/australia/japan, i think they would sell better.
