2016 Colorado Diesel

The Colorado was mentioned favorably in one of the video reviews I saw of the 2016 Tacoma. The reviewer praised the Colorado for it's larger back seat and headroom when compared to the Taco.

I'm not saying it's a spacious vehicle, but for a midsize truck it apparently makes pretty good use of the space.

Looks like the diesel reviews are starting to surface. Sounds nice they worked hard to keep it quiet which for an Urban living dad it would be nice to drive down the street without waking up all the neighbors at the crack of dawn. My neighbor dumped his ford diesel because it was too damn loud not kidding. And given he use to coast it out of his driveway and start it on the fly as he rolled out on the main road I woke every morning at the crack of dawn to a diesel starting. LOLI sleep better now that he has a gasser Ford.

no fuel numbers yet... But its been mentioned that 30mpg could be possible. So maybe 25mpg with a FWC on it? Really curious to see how those numbers turn out. Not a big fan of GM products never owned one actually. But the Colorado / Canyon is starting to peak my interest some. If the Ford Ranger were here with a manual 6spd I would probably already own one. I had a Ranger way back in the day really liked that truck. The Tacoma is OK I just think its way way over priced for what you get. Though I do miss having a manual and Toyota still offers one.

The Tacoma is cheaper than the Colorado.

Not from what I'm seeing dealers are selling them at MSRP around here and most of our dealers are all owned by the same dealer group based in Los Angeles and they dance the fine line of price fixing. Which case one more reason for me to not have much interest in purchasing new from them. The used Tacomas are stupid high on prices also. I like it but prices are too high when you can get a F150 fairly decked out for nearly the same price.

They only offer it in 3 packages, SR 4 cylinder (5-Speed), ACLB V6 Sport, DCSB V6 OR....they have all but killed it.

Quite disappointed with the '16 Tacoma....sure it will be fine, but meh...kinda over Toyota.

Best deal out there seems to be the F150, Ford will budge on price...Toyota won't. Get so much more truck with the F150.

According to the GM website, cheapest diesel Collie is just shy of $40k. (diesel engine wasn't listed the last time I checked, but the exhaust brake option was, hit that the price will come up).

We are now seeing $40K Tacomas...I have seen F150 XLT's around here in the $32K range...with more than enough (too many?) gizmos for me.

Same here a nice Tacoma is easily pushing 45K especially with taxes and licensing tied in. The F150 is nice a friend picked up the 2.7 a few months ago replaced his 95 F150 with the new 4dr 2.7 4x4. So far its been pretty impressive 25mpg on his 5hr drive to his cabin 20mpg around town. But I need something smaller I have a rental in SF parking a F150 there is like trying to park the Titanic at the local lake boat ramp. Just ain't happening.

A lot of coin to spend for a truck that you can't really haul anything in, at least it "should" get stellar fuel economy, but noooo....

...I dunno, seems like the Tacoma is more about an image than anything else.

Probably better off getting a Ford Transit Connect for city driving/hauling supplies, up to 30 mpg, more payload than a Tacoma...cheapest one is around $22K.

I haven't shopped lately, but I imagine I could get a TRD OR 4x4 crew cab for around 38 with tag and taxes. Don't get me wrong, I think the midsize prices are ridiculous for what you get. I bought a new 4x4 crew cab 1 ton diesel for 43 a year ago.

Theres a lot of small thing on the F150 that make it "bigger" though. The cab is way bigger, so you need more lift for the same ground clearance as the Taco. The front and rear overhangs are a lot lower, and the body is generally more "square," and also a bit wider making it feel bigger on the trail. Things like the angle of the side of the cab sloping in on the top and bottom of the Taco make it "smaller" off road.

Not that big of a deal out west, but in the Northeast anything bigger than the current gen Taco will make me uncomfortable on some trails.

Pricing for the I4 baby Duramax in either of the GM twins is $3394 invoice and $3730 M$RP. Thought someone might want to know.
