If you need a utility vehicle you buy a used one a few yrs old for 1/2 price and use it. No one with any fiscal sense buys these expensive new trucks then thrashes them like old farm wagons.
Though lots of its not my money types borrow funny money ie cheap loans and trash them then cry when their credit is crap and get repo men collecting.

Not that many years ago lots of fire departments, forestry and public works agencies etc bought these as work trucks in 3/4 ton form with vinyl bench seats etc. I guess that market has gone to HD crew cab pickups, but I’d still think that GM could sell quite a few to those fleet customers, and a few more to ExPo types. Deconfiguring a vehicle may reduce margins, but there’s no tooling/development or certification costs (assuming powertrains are the same) and increased volumes help amortize those up-front costs.

You can order a 3/4 suburban fleet only purchase.

But all things AREN'T equal. For whatever reason, the auto manufacturers have decided that there's just no market for a "utilitarian" full sized SUV.
SUVs of all sizes have become the new mini van and those replaced the family station wagon. My guess is the main use for SUVs now is as fleets of cop cars.

Well, in that regard, I’d really like to see them bring back the Avalanche!

Me too but that’s not happening. A CCSB is cheaper to make and GM discovered that most Avalanche users rarely (or never) took advantage of the “disappearing mid-gate” anyway.

Which is a shame. I always thought it was a brilliant concept.
