S-RV. Everything looks golden and then some.
The example picture of the pre-modified rack looked chassis mounted.
I missed that your rack was going to straight to the subframe. That makes everything I was talking about a moot point.
BTW, what traction boards are you using and any idea if they've got weight ratings?
Me and one of my 7,300# tires got into this ick on the shakedown. Boards wouldn't have saved us here (much longer story) but seeing as we still don't carry any it's safe to say "I'm in the market"!
The scares were deep enough that we skipped a lot of beach living without them so they've moved up on the priority list. Imagine that;)View attachment 777505

WOW! That is a picture. What PSI were you running in the MPTS’S? Just curious?. Sand is always fun. Wet Georgia clay scares me! Pig snot!

I am away from the rig by a few states. The traction boards we purchased were tested at some crazy weight and USA MADE.
I will get the exact details, label, when we get home late this week.

EDIT….MY wife found them. We have the Stainless Studded version. They have not left the hanger so NO EXPERIENCE with them.

Safe travels!

I've been running the rears at 72psi and the fronts at 60. Before she was all loaded up every thing was at 50 and a tad softer. I never got around to running them lower and getting into super soft stuff when she was light. Now that she's heavy its going to be a lot of tiny little baby steps to gain some level comfort.
Tiny little fat baby steps:)

Spare cradle idea for you.

I believe that is the finished version of the cut away I posted a picture of. (Post 362) I REALLY like their idea. I could modify it to fit our rig. I would have to see if they would sell the carrier to me, or parts of it, in raw form to be powder coated later. It would easily mount on our subframe, with some minor modifications. DDG incorporates the carrier into their subframe design so the subframe carries the load.

We designed something VERY similar to be cut out at a local shop so I can weld it together. Not sent off yet. Working on the carrier this week, along with a few other things...LOL. It might be worth a phone call to see if DDG Overland would let loose of one. :) Could save me some time!

THANKS!! ALWAYS looking for ideas and information :)

So it lowers down, with the pass side as a pivot, towards the ground on driver side? HUGE gas strut assisted or are you lowering down and raising it back up yourself? Cannot be light.

Yes it does. We are calling DDG today. They gave us a quote and want to get some details.
How it works, what is included to adapt to out hitch receivers, ETC.
Would be made from 1/4" aluminum. I originally thought it was made from 1/4" steel plate.
I looked closer at the DDG website and sure enough it is aluminum.

We also submitted just the basket photo and some measurement to a local shop that we worked with to build the storage boxes. We would weld it to receiver steel we already have.
Would be made with 1/4" steel plate.
Friend works there as an engineer :)

Should keep it warm during the winter camping months :) Mostly 3/4" foam. 1/2" on the top.

Fingers crossed it will installed on the rig by the end of the week.
New airline to run and D2 exhaust to finalize.

Looking good!

Keep us posted on what you decide on the spare tire career. I may also PM you related to the difference in pricing for the two options you are considering.

I will be months behind you, but I will also be having one with the same/similar design fabricated along with the bumper. Since mine will be mounted to the bumper, I would like to have it all done at the same time.

Not that you don't already have enough irons in the fire, but did your bamboo drawer fronts make it on yet?

Keep hammering away ?.

Vance,

Feel free to PM me. In the end I will be paying someone else to save us some time...go figure, plus DDG makes some really nice products. NOT CHEAP! but engineered and well made from everything I can gather. DDG will be custom adapting the tire carrier to fit our subframe with a few modifications. Shipping is another thing entirely, Washington to Georgia. Wish we were closer.

My wife is coating the existing bamboo with 2 coats of polly. We found out that I can not put my dirty hands on anything without leaving a mark with the raw oil finish. I will be back in the wood shop next week and get everything cut and prepared for her to oil and poly. Will post for sure.

The truck in the above picture, post #379, is a DDG build. At least the subframe and tire carrier. Total Composites box. Not sure who did the buildout. It is on their website. Not sure if they have a build thread. DDG also sent us a few pictures of the tire carrier in the build process, cool to see.

I am like you, crunching LONG days trying to wrap this rig up! Getting ready for a HUGE trip with the rig. More on that later  Hope to depart around August 1st, and the dry board list is LONG! CRUNCH TIME!

ONWARD!!

CHEERS!!
