3 season tent or 0 degree bag

I vote for a better bag (0 deg or lower), and a blue scratchy wool airforce blanket or 2.
So if it's really cold, you're in the bag
If it's not so cold, the bag makes a comfy 'feather bed', and the blanket(s) keeps you warm
And a nice pad with either

To help keep your bag clean, always wear a full pajama set of some sort. Most important part is socks.

Going to bed barefoot is the second best way to grunge up your sleeping bag IMO. Best way to funk it up is to sleep nekkid.

I recommend a full change of clothes, so that you're not sleeping in sweaty clothes, these tend to go clammy and give me the chills.

For backpacking I have a seperate pair of sleeping socks to keep foot funk from touching my sleeping bag. I also recommend a wash down of sorts before crawling in to bed.

In really cold weather, a down vest or jacket can make the difference as well.

A three season tent really won't keep you warmer than any other tent. The season refer to the tents ability to handle weather conditions such as heavy wet snow. Ie a four season tent is made for all seasons including heavy snow and weather.

That said, get or rent a good bag and you will be happy. Keep a beanie on ur head so u do t lose any more heat. Have fun
