I got the offset right this time. No rubbing at full lock to lock steering.
17x9 -12 offset
BFG AT KO2
35 12.5 R17

My last quigley rubbed with 285's I trusted the tire guy on that one, but they did not get it right.

I was s bit worried -12 would not be enough, but couldn't find a rim with much more neg offset that still had a good load rating.

It's only been a day, but the tire change was a win for the road noise issue and a huge improvement in the general feel of the van!!

Do you have a link to the rims or more info, brand etc? Is the only cutting done to the front bumper?

Mr. D
I answered your pm.

Tom.
I sold the rims and tires locally. They went really fast even the bad set.

They ATX rims.
I'll try to ring link. Just rolled into FLA from NY. smooth trip 35's were great!
Did have slightly higher nhan normal temp readings when blasting AC. may do new thermostat to see if that helps.
Never had to stop, but it ran center of gauge all across country including desert in summer so something is up with it.
I trimmed bumper and back of fender but that was for the 37's.
Would only need minor trimming for 35's.

Sorry about getting rid of the tires and rims. I put a feeler ad up on Craigslist and got a ton of interest.
It would have been tough to ship your way anyhow.

Bah, you dont need to feel bad.

Althoughhhh, they were the last piece of the puzzle to complete the old truck project that my dad started. Rest his soul. It was his dieing wish to have it completed and he did love those old Hummer rims and tires. It was all he talked about. It's alright though, I can probably find a set somewhere. Someday. Then poor ol' dad can rest in peace.

Started pulling thermostat and broke two bolts. May just swap out whole water pump while I'm at it.

All back together. Up and running again. No more frothy mud in the cooling system.

Old thermostat was 195 degrees new one 203.
Swapped:
Water pump
Thermostat
Radiator
Belt

Upper and lower hose both have t-fittings could not source those at local parts store so just cleaned them out really well and reinstalled.

Hoping the remnants of the blades are not stuck somewhere in block. I hosed out water jacket as well as I could. Hoping they broke down small enough to end up in the old radiator or the hoses I cleaned out.

Aren't there supposed to be some paddles on those blades? That doesn't look like it would do anything but froth up that mud colored coolant you've got in there! I'd call that a crisis averted getting it swapped out prior to overheating.

Yes. Lucky I guess. No idea how long it has been like that. I'm usually driving such short distances it barley warms up.
Running down to Fla I noticed it heating up. Never got past the L in NORMAL on the gauge, but I had to turn off the AC to get it back to between the MA. now with the 203 thermostat it sits center of the M. Used to sit between the RM prior to the problem.

Cooling problems solved. Drove back up to NY. Smooth sailing. Glad I tore into it down there. the weather was perfect for working on it. It's really cold up here now!!
The 35's were a good call. So smooth on hwy. can cruise at 70-75 no problem. 65 felt sketchy on the H1 setup.
