Any opinions on the rear springs??
I have no idea how they will ride once I get the weight of the box in them, but they look stiff and in forgiving.
The reason I ask is they will be hard to access once the box is on. The spare tire compartment hangs low and will impede access to the bolts that hold the springs on the passenger side.

To me those springs look like they've given up the ghost. It looks like all except maybe the top two leaves have gone into negative arch mode, which means their load carrying days are over. Now, I have about zero familiarity with ambo boxes and what-not, but when it comes to just everything I AM familiar with those springs look like toast.

Those are toasted! Like I said Albany Spring does great leaf spring work. All they need is a few measurements and the weight or the dead springs Might be someone closer to the city though.

Thank you.
I guess that I am going to have to estimate the rear weight of the finished truck.
I'm guessing that with the mini mod box it will be lower than the standard dually ambos
I'll have to work this all out before the box swap.

This might help. It's the sticker with the weights from the ambo I stripped.

That's the cat's booty right there. Where was that located on yours? I need to mount a mini search party and see if there's one hiding in mine. Won't substitute a trip to the scales, but at least I'll have a ballpark idea.

Is there going to be anything actually attached to the extension you welded on? If so you might want to give some thoughts to fish plating the welded joints.

I thought about that.
I don't think there will be too much stress on it.
I could be wrong and can reinforce it later if need be.

Awesome!!!

I was already secretly jealous of your ambo, but damn!!!

Also did you say you wanted some folding steps? I have 5 leftovers. I could blast the crappy paint off them for you too.

Haha!! Thanks Alex
I did make some progress this weekend.

Yes! I would be interested in the extra steps. They seem like a great solution to getting on the roof.
What is your plan for roof racks on yours??

Here is a picture in the daylight.

Oh man that is too sweet! I even dig the corner marker lights!

I've been using some (way too toxic to still be legally manufactured) marine grade solvent to pull the lettering off my rig, I wonder if something would take all that striping and hand written lettering off.

I'll see if we are doing more work down by you and maybe get the steps blasted. I sprayed mine with rustoleum bed liner, but I think it would be worth seeing if a local line-x shop would shoot them on the cheap with leftover material.

The plan is no racks, just D links bolted down, and bed liner.

Just a thought, but I had slightly mis-matched clear lenses like yours. 5 minutes spent swapping them from side to side so they all match and you don't even notice. Or maybe some headlight restorer?

What are you doing about that light bar? Guessing you don't want another ticket or red lights. That would look so sweet if you swapped it with an LED light bar. Even just a cheap eBay one.

FYI I spoke to my NYS Trooper neighbor about the front red markers above the wheels and she said that they should be fine as they are "signals." So I think those wont be an issue.

Are those tires clearing??
