Developing Story? This is an old story. Can anyone verify any of this new information?

Who's vehicle was taken?
What vehicle was taken? Vin # etc.
Where was a taken from?
Why?
When was it taken?

Can someone provide proof? Did you get a receipt or notice, that your vehicle was or is impounded. This whole thread sound hokey to me. I need some proof or it's not happening! Now I won't rule it out, because I know of US Citizens that are buying brand new defenders here in Belize, but these vehicles are being registered here in Belize and driven up to the states. Most doing this from my understanding is that they are keeping the vehicle registered in Belize but are driving them in the states. I guess it's the same as me. I have a Georgia registered vehicle with a Georgia tag and registration, but have been driving it in Belize.

I find it hard to believe a shipping company would knowly ship a stolen vehicle. I've shipped quite a few vehicles and can tell you that the paperwork and verification checks that the vehicle is not stolen is a PITA, and this goes for driving across international borders as well.

Lastly, people buying these vehicles should know that if it (the Defender ) is less than 25 years old it can not be legally imported into the US, period! Why do some want to take the hassle or the risk is beyond me? Seriously if you need an older Defender we have plenty of them running around here in Belize. I'd be happy to get you one , fix it up, drive it or ship it to you, and flip it to you for a reasonable price. lol

Cars get stolen every single day. Sometimes with people in them. It is not brand dependent. Being an LR does not make it any more or less important. If you were truly concerned about the 'poor chaps' in the UK and their stolen crapwagons, you should be all for this as bits and pieces, and sometimes the whole, seem to have come off of those 'poor chaps' trucks to be sent over here.

Perhaps we should all just trust in our unelected officials, wave the flag as vehemently as possible when anything is called into question and join the rest of the sheep.

I will trust my elected officials until they give me a reason not to. In this case, they are investigating a large network of illegal trucks and parts. Until it comes out that they did everything wrong, I will continue giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not so sure it was ever about safety. If it was, all the vehicles with safety recalls would be parked.
I have a 2012 Ram 2500 with a recall on the left tie rod ball joint. The recall notice says the part can fail suddenly causing the vehicle to lose control or crash. For 9 months I have been trying to get it repaired. The dealer can't get but one part at a time and there are 9 more people ahead of me on the list. When you call Chrysler hot line you get a drone repeating the same crap- we are sorry, please be patient.
I tried to tell them to cough up a loaner until the part came in, but that was a waste of time. Meanwhile I drive a 6800# truck back and forth to work everyday that has a known safety issue. Not really happy about it, but it's all I have, I would be divorced if parked the truck and stranded the wife.

You'll see jpgs of a seizure notice, lots of actual, first hand accounts of people who had their vehicle seized, and maybe even find some sympathy for people who are the 2nd or 3rd owner of a vehicle that had been imported, licensed and registered for years in the US so the buyer had no reason to doubt the vehicle's legality.

It was a coordinated sweep performed simultaneously in multiple states with, in some cases 8 or more police/enforcement personnel on site to take the vehicle. This did not just happen to one or two people.

Feds aren't picking on Land Rovers : the Nissan Skyline crowd knows this only too well. We all want vehicles that we aren't supposed to have, even if we have to disassemble them in the country of origin, ship the parts to the US, reassemble and try to register as a kit car. That doesn't work either. Tho we try. Crash worthiness standards have to be met, no way around it.

Each of these warrants has a section, where the facts establishing probable cause for the seizure are spelled out, in plain English. Another section spells out the violation(s) of law, and the legal basis for the seizures, so any Rover owner whining that the Government took their truck and they have no idea why, actually knows exactly why and knew before the truck left the driveway.
