Here's hoping we'll read a "Wrangler vs 4Runner" comparison in Overland Journal in a few months!

Wouldn't a Jeep Cherokee be an appropriate competitor to the 4-Runner instead of a Wrangler?

We have a test unit coming next week. Will let you know what I think.
... Awesome... I mean I'm still a little bitter and jealous of you :littlefriend: being that you either own, have owned, or have gotten to spend time with EVERY SINGLE TRUCK I've ever loved. Don't get me wrong, I've been fortunate to get to drive some amazing rigs from Mog Fire-engines to 70series Troupy's and Utes, BUT, you sir take the cake in the dream truck experience game. I bow to the master eh ;) I'm psyched to hear what you think of the truck. But again, I am still jealous and a bit petty so watch out :D ;) HAHAHAHAHA

While the Jeep JK has the good underneath (and I've even seen a few lately that really got my attention - Tube fenders look AWESOME on the JK's just to get rid of those HIDEOUS stock units IMO) Still, I think that the 2010 4Runner is one of the most amazng looking rigs on the road right now. While I love all things Toyota 4x4, the 4th Gen 4Runner seldom caught my eye for whatever reason (I did se a nicely kitted out 4th gent he other day with the grey/plastic flares over a white body that made me look twice it was so nice but...) and when the 5th Gen came out I was instantly in lust from a looks stand-point. I never liked the FJ personaly though they are also good trail rigs. I really am glad to see Toyota give us some of what we here in N.America are completely deprived of. Now make us the Retro Taco or an SFA 1st Gen 4Runner re-make with a Diesel and a Manual trans (or just ofer us the 70ser) and I'd really lose it and even I might buy a new truck (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - something I haven't had any intrest in in N.America since the demise of the FZJ80)

Anywho ehough of my rediculous rambling...

Cheers

Dave

I'm sure once the aftermarket get's up to speed with them, they will be yet another GREAT Toyota 4wd and honestly with all the gizmos, IMo they're as good if not better trail amchine then the Land Cruiser (IMO you haven't been able to say that since the SFA 1st Gen). They've already been proven a pretty darn capable rig even in stock trim, I can't WAIT to see an ARB/OME'd version... Anyway, I love these trucks in case you couldn't tell. I'm really looking forward to seing some built up. I'm also really looking forward to hearing Scott's impressions seeing as he has a pretty amazing base of experience to form a comparision base (meaning he's driven or owns all of the key players in this specialized segment of trucks)

Cheers

Dave

Here is a new 4Runner, and Hawkdog21 did not waste anytime putting a lift on it.
