So does that mean you got the engine and transmission mated?

I have actually been working on my other truck, it is a 94 3500hd, got the electrical issues figured out, need to throw an injection pump on it and im building a welding bed for it.

I needed to get something going because the truck im using to run my welding machine around on right now is falling apart on me.

Ah, that's no good.

Actually it was good because it got me inspired to get off my butt and get that truck running again.

The truck im using right now is a 3/4 ton, has a good 350 and a 5 speed, going to yank them and the 14 bolt ff it has. Then going to grab a handfull of other parts off of it and junk the rest.

The fuel pump in it is giving up, so its running like crap right now. I am not spending 300 bucks for a delphi pump for a truck that is going to the scrap heap.

The 94 is a 3500HD, its a really stout truck, it will get the job done very well, and it will mean that by the time I get my 72 going I will have 2 trucks, which is a good thing because it will mean I can hire some one to run the 94.

Allthough now I am considering just putting a regular flat bed on the 72, but we will see how it all pans out.

Too funny.....No joke, I was thinking about this thread the other night and wondered what ever happened with this project. Especially since I know where a 77 Chevy crew cab and a 91 Dodge diesel are just sitting and could be had cheap. Probably more project than I could handle but I like to see others doing the Cummins swap just so I can dream, debate, and scare the wife with my ideas....

Go for it Hokie! Buy those old trucks and build the rig you allways wanted...:ylsmoke:

Ha! Yeah, just need time, money, garage space and mainly more talent. I will be up where the Dodge is this weekend....see what happens...

Now, what's the latest on the '72!?

It is sitting on my new goose neck trailer, I had to take a break from working on the truck to build a welding rig, I will be moving back to Montana in a couple of weeks, then once I am setup with a place to work on it again I will be making progress.
