Mini update, I just stayed up all night doing cad designing a new bed, decided not to build the welder trailer, I am going to wind up buying a new machine, a Lincoln Vantage 300 with the Kubota Diesel. This bed is designed around it.

more to come soon...

Looks like a very functional and clean set-up you have made on the old Cad program. I like the way the 2 tanks are tucked away between the cab and the welder. Also, I think you are going to be really happy with a new Lincoln welder too. I am very impressed with your CAD skills. Nice work!:victory:

I have a GXT 250 Ranger right now, that thing rocks as a power source.

I am going to the Vantage 300 with the Kubota because it will weld a bit thicker material, and it is a diesel. Seeing as how the Cummins is a diesel as well that will make life simple. There are few things that suck as much as dumping the wrong kind of fuel into your rig.

I've always thought about putting incummings in mine but the cost of diesel prices keep going up

I drive about 40,000 miles a year. Regular driving, and about another 10,000 towing.

Gas is 3.859 here, Diesel is 3.859.

With my 454 I was getting 8.1 MPG average overall If I had to do that with today's gas prices, that would be 4,938.27 gallons regular driving costing 16,972.92.

Towing with the 454 I got about 5mpg that is 1,234.57 gallons towing. That works out to $4,764.21 total fuel cost for at a cost of the 454.

With the Cummins I was getting 17-22 mpg, I am going to use a median number of 20mpg, that is 2,000 gallons at a cost of $7,718.00.

Towing with the Cummins I got about 13mpg that would use 769.23 gallons at a cost of $2,968.46.

Total fuel bill for the 454: $21,557.13

Total fuel bill for the Cummins: $10,686.46

That is 10,870.67 a year less to opperate the Cummins.

As well the Cummis is a superior design and much more reliable.
