A little slice of WY.......

Great pictures! I lived in Wyoming for 5 years while I was in law school. I lived in Laramie so of course I'm very familiar with the Snowy Range.

I haven't explored much of Western Wyoming, though. Looks like I'll have to get out there.

Where was that washout? Was that on Battle Pass road (Highway 70 between Encampment and Baggs?) That is also a great place to see some spectacular autumn colors, too, as it runs through some huge aspen forests.

Yes it was on 70 between Baggs and Encampment. It was just before one of the pull outs with the info signs which I'm drawing a blank as to what it said now.

I was thinking that a trip to see the colors would probably be really nice if I can time it right. I keep trying to hit the Uintas south of me to catch the colors and most of the time I'm a bit to early or a lot to late and the leaves have fallen off. About 4 years ago I hit it perfect and it also snowed so I had the colors, and the colors against the snow. Awesome. I think it was that next Spring when the roads opened up there that I also hit it just right and had a little snow, lots of bright new green growth, and the wild flowers coming out.

I've been slowly branching out and have found a couple of really nice places this summer now. I need to start heading up to the north central and northeast part of the state sometime.

great photos of the Snowy Range area etc. I lived in Laramie for about 5 years while finishing college and then law school. I used to explore those sames roads on Sunday drives. I worked as a Bartender at the Old Corral in Centennial. The current Old Corral is much different now, more touristy with cheap souvenirs, don't think it even has a bar now! It's a shame! Used to love going to The Wolf Hotel in Saratoga, beautiful drive and great food. Thanks again for the photos, I have not been there since 1999, really miss it!

I'm glad you enjoyed them. I didn't stop anywhere in Centennial, but I got the feeling it was touristy just by looking at things when I drove through.

Well it was a pretty nice day except for the biting cold temps so I decided to take a little drive and see what things looked like in the area. I dropped down Hwy 191 around the Flaming Gorge Reservoir and then up Hwy 530 to Green River and onto the back road home from there. Here are a few photos from the trip.

I took these first few photos with a tiny little Canon ELPH 300 point and shoot that I was given as a gift with the purchase of a new laptop that I made. I was trying it out and wanted to compare it with my Nikon DSLR.

A couple of pictures at a view point above and to the north of the Dam and Bridge. The Dam is off to the left and the bridge is visible across the water in the first photo.

Only the 4th or 5th time I've seen any of these guys in the 27 years I've lived down here. They always seem to be at the worst spot to get any photos too. I'm glad the traffic was light today.

I don't think I will be able to go to much of anything this summer other than some short trips like I've posted. I'd like to go to the Expo sometime and I'd like to make it back to the FJ Summit and Moab too.

Yep. That's the area from the last couple of photos. Pulled out of GR at the FMC park and then hit the Little Firehole road. The photos were taken at the little wide spot at the top just before you start down by the road to the antennas.

Damn.......I haven't been to Casper since AC/DC and Def Leppard were touring in the late '80's or early '90's. I need to get back up that way some time. I have a friend that I worked with that just took a transfer up there couple of months ago and I should go up and say Hi to her sometime.
