I like that- who's lift was it? Did you like it?
An Expo Hearse?:ylsmoke:Now that's cool![]()
rough country lift. I wanted small and they were the only ones left carring the 2.5 that I could find. it was around 4-500 with 6 upgraded shocks.
great highway manners and even with the sway bars still connected it went down the mojave trail and to some local mines.
loved the truck and that has been the 3rd bronco ive owned (also the nicest with the 5.8 and loaded)
only reason its gone is I wanted something the wife and I (+dogs) could take out and have some room.
so i have the dodge now (diesel 17mpg)with a truck cap and soon (next year maybe ) have a FWC in the back.
Yeah, I like the low lift idea too. My 80 has no lift, gratuitus fender trimming and 35x14.50 Mickeys. I'm planning on doing the same on the 86, only on it, I'll have to install some flares to keep it legal. As far as to how far I will travel, that is kind of up in the air right now. I have a wife and two kids so storage for everything is key. I 'm used to a 79 ford F250 extended cab, with a 460, so mileage will definately be an improvement.
I'm designing a series of storage compartments for the cargo area so that all my tools, spare parts, and fluids, etc. will be secured. I'll post some pics when I get it built.
What came with the kit exactly? Did it have drop brackets for the TTB? Springs/alignment bushings and that's it?
Well I got the 35's on.....Even though I knew I had to do some trimming It's still tight in there.
I think now I'm going to add some "leveling coils". I need to research what's available though because I don't want to buy coils that are the same height as stock but just compress less because they are so damn stiff.
I want something just a little softer than stock.
I'm looking forward to it....
As far as the low lift height but capable rig goes I found this and it's going to be one of my mods soon
$67 T-case clocking ring that'll work with a 1356 too. Clock the case up a bit so it tucks in the frame and a new skid.
A moderate boatside....(I hope to get this done this summer)

Doing this one this week. F-150 18 gallon tank. Hangs BARELY below the frame vs 6+" below the frame like the Bronco tank.
Not alot of info yet, but the tank will be here this coming week and will have done by next weekend.

Not sure of your mileage or mileage goals but mine is a minimum of 15mpg.....
With that in mind the F-150 tank offers a 270 mile range......With two 5 gal jerry cans that goes up to 420 miles. That's plenty of range for me. And in fact where most of my traveling and camping will happen the 270mile range is plenty.
I already had the alignment bushings in
it came with drop brackets and new coils. rear block and 6 shocks
I bought jeffs bronco graveyard HD stock rear springs and it matched the 2.5 lift in front perfectly.
I would keep the stock bronco tank. when I had the small lift on it was not an issue and with 30 gal I didnt need to really carry an extra gas tank
Here's mine... "96, 5.8 w/ a 6" SAS and soon to be matching trailer for the stuff we can't fit in the truck with the dog and kid taking up a lot of the rear cargo room:
