Wow Andrew......that's a big ask. Lucky for you, the highest mountain in West Oz is only about 3 metres above sea level.

As far as the drivetrain goes, I think the uni's and tailshaft will be under a bit of strain. I wouldn't be too worried about the bearings.......they were always an overkill. Brakes for sure may be a bit off. My other car runs wheels 20% over stock and the brakes on it really suck.......it's not driven on the street much any more though.

Not sure about that bottom corner of the door and back edge of the middle step either..............what do you reckon about clearance there? You might have to ditch the bottom cab step and I'm willing to bet you'll have to limit the left steering stop cause the inside edge of the front right wheel will hit the steering link too no matter how high you lift it.....you are going to lift it ?????......siilly question.......ahh I was young once.

I have some experience with 38" XML's on old FG 649's but 41" XZL's on an 84 is way outside the box.

.....Hey, I'll do you a good deal on some of these 19.5's. Hahaha.

Honestly, good luck with it. If it's anything like your last truck, I'm sure it'll turn out to be awesome.

Hey Andrew, see you over there for the show in November.
Regards John.

ohh yea, very funny mate... :p

think they work out about 27% over stock. the 1100s are 22%.

yea both will have to go. possibly cut off the door so its like the 649 ie doesnt cover the step. i prefer that anyway. obviously want to keep as much steering lock as poss. have thought bout it but not sure what im gonna do there. probly chasin round 85mm lift + 110 odd from tyres = a pretty high rig... hence designing heavy tray + low water tanks etc.

yea im well aware that its a bit out there by norm standards. but judging by how my truck goes with 1100s, think it should go ok. only one way to find out :)

Hi all

How is the 12.5r20 project going on :ylsmoke:.

I wonder how big the axle shafts are, 36mm, 38mm 40mm? will they handle this size without failing?

I think as long as you don't overload it, bearings and brakes should be fine, In China they put 6 to 8T on this size on light trucks:Wow1:

well my rims arrive in Aus early november, also waiting on suspension. hoping to have the truck licensed by the end of this month though. :ylsmoke:
far as axle shafts etc, i figure its pretty similar to patrols + landcruisers with 37" tyres..

255/100R16 (9.00R16) 36" XZL COPY YS20 Chinese Military Truck Tires

Hi all

About the chinese copy of the michelin, here it is

http://www.tyre-services.com/Products/YS20.html
http://www.yellowsea-tyre.com/sdp/222262/4/pd-850172/510567-425516/Radial_Tire_YS20.html

they are made by this company:
http://www.honortechtires.com/Aboutus.asp?Title=%C6%F3%D2%B5%BC%F2%BD%E9

I was hunting for something like the XML 325 85r16, but so far did not find. I am sure if a customer comes and ask for 1 or 2 container of this tire, they would make it:smiley_drive:

Anybody body ready to step in, i might be bale to help:sombrero:

I will try to post pics of the ys20 i saw on an iveco in China

Further to this post, there is a fellow bringing in a container full of the YS20 tires to Vancouver :

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/nvn/ptd/3515040652.html

I have been chatting back and forth with Chris.

He and I have not met and I offered to post this for him here.

Chris said that most of the tires will go to local guys with lifted pickups, but if there are other markets, they are interested and can make bulk shipments to the States to save cost, if needed.

Hope this is not too much of a thread derailment.
If a mod or the OP wants me to start a new thread, glad to do it.

The ad says 39" at the top of the page then lower states the diameter as 36" ??????????

hello On the Fg what bed length would you use? I like the idea of using a flat bed and adding a box to the top. It's all ideas that i need to start a project. I am open to all ideas. I have thought about the 4x4 sprinter van but it's not big enough. But a beginning. Thank you.
