Applejack's 3rd Gen 4runner Build

Monday the new owners of my Taco will take her away:( I do hate to see it go.
But now I'm back into a 3rd Gen. and we will see where I go with it. But for now it's a stock 2000 Limited with 80k on the clock. Super clean and most importantly the e-locker.
I must admit, it will be difficult to get used to the lack of power. This will be a slow and methodical build, tires for starters and a little lift.

Having peace of mind with a paid off vehicle is worth it.

It isn't about the vehicle anyway, it is about where it takes you. ;)

You think you have lack of power, you should drive my VW Bus...:sombrero:

Congrats, partner. And I agree with Wonderland, wholeheartedly: it's better when it's yours. Can't wait to see how you build her and where she takes you...

Subscribed. :coffee:

I also picked up a set of Firestone Destination M/T's for cheap!

Used to roll these on my Jeep and I LOVED 'em! They wear a little quicker than some and you have to be more gentle on your sidewalls, but they're far-and-away the smoothest M/T I've ever owned. So nice on the road on a DD; worth the trade-off to me. (I just wish they made 'em in the "ExPo-approved" 255s. ha!)

More pics soon, pls!

Keep an eye out on TTORA for used suspension. Seems like there is always something on sale, whether it be from someone upgrading to long travel, or take offs before they sell it.

Was the damage in the front or rear? Did the carfax state what was damaged or fixed?

The 4runner looks good. :victory:

Did you buy it from a private seller? If he knowingly and deliberately misrepresented the condition of the vehicle that could be enough for a criminal fraud charge.

If you want to keep the vehicle (it looks pretty nice to me!) you could get an honest appraisal of the value based on the salvage title and then tell the seller that he owes you the difference between what you paid and the actual value. If he balks at that, take him to small claims court.

Except I am certain mine was wrecked. Carfax stated nothing about it. Everything seems fine over time, though... whew!

I wonder: if no police/insurance company is notified of an accident, then can't a person just take the truck to a non-factory/dealer body shop for repair (or do it themselves)? If the work is paid for with cash, then there would be no record. Is this possible as a way to not have any accident report tied to the VIN?

I hope for the best for you as this plays out!

Might want to try a different company. I had a carfax on a vehicle...clean (knowing the car had flood damage). Then I ran a autocheck, came back with the total history. It included the out of state flood damage and salvage auctions.

I am sorry to hear about the troubles. If it makes you feel any better, it's a nice looking Runner.
