LIne-X coating

Okay, not a serious modification but I decided to have the interior of the bed Line-X coated. Instead of the usual black which I felt would make it too dark I had it done in gray to match the truck.

Supercharger

Mario, I'm curious about your supercharger. I'm considering this as a future upgrade. Was yours an Avenger Kit?

Did yours require the fiberglass hood to fit?

What about exhaust upgrades, I'm guessing those will be necessary as well. I already have the flowmaster 50 series ready to go, just looking for a header & high flow CAT now.

I just removed my Avenger this past weekend. I have opted to replace with a 4.6 stroker.
The Avenger will not fit under your stock hood. Modifying the stock hood was not a vaible option so I took an aftermarket fiberglass hood and had it modified to fit the SC.
If you want to save some $ and are interested in a used Avenger and a hood for low bucks, drop me a PM.

Stroke it!

The next big step for the MJ is the engine. After 4 years, it is time to take the supercharger out in favor of the souped up tractor engine approach. The supercharger was fine for hot footing it around at altitude but an expo rig needs simplicity. A Golen blue printed 4.6 stroker is the solution. Out of the box with 260 HP @ 5200 rpm, 295 ft lb torque @ 3400, 9.2:1 compression ratio. These numbers are based upon factory intake & exhaust and 24 lb injectors. That being said, a Hesco 62 mm throttle body, Thorley header and 26 lb injectors are being used as a part of this upgrade so I think the numbers will be closer to 280/HP & 315 ft lbs.
Factory specs were 190 HP @ 4750 rpm, 225 ft lbs @ 3950 rpm.

We are a few days into the swap work, during which many other components are being changed:
Re-install factory fans (the FF triple electric scenario was not effective)
New water pump (OEM)
New coil (OEM)
Mean Green 140A alternator, makes 100A at idle (factory was 90A)
Re-install OEM MAP sensor (S/C used Split Second Signal Calibrator)
All new vacuum lines
New Fuel injection lines
Heat insulation on all electrical and fuel & hydraulic lines on drivers side
New clutch (Corvette)
Re-install factory hood with large Cool-it vents

Tomorrow night we fire her up and break in the cam. Stay tuned...

Mario, any thought to considering the ATK 4.7 stroker that Mopar will make available this fall? Here's the generic news on it:

ATK 4.7-liter Stroker Motor
Following up on Mopar's announcement last year that it would investigate adding a stroker motor to its portfolio, the parts maker displayed a 4.7-liter engine on the XJ Stroker vehicle at Moab. This is the same motor that won the 4X4 SUV category at the 2008 Score International Baja 1000 in Essenada, Mexico. Mopar plans to launch the ATK 4.7-liter Stroker motor for Jeep applications starting in September 2009.

Ha! Okay, I missed the part in your post where you showed the Golen already going in your rig. Doh!

I suppose you can disregard my previous response. ;)

you must be up late taking care of fatherly duties and working with a sleep deficit amigo :)

I was unaware of the 4.7 becoming available. Sounds like a nice option if Chrysler can pull it off given their current condition.

I am committed to the Golen obviously at this point. They have a great rep and I can say that they are downright paternalistic about their engines. Their customer service is excellent. They insist on walking you through initial oil pump priming, cam break-in and first oil change over the phone. I am impressed so far.
