great stuff but my parents arent looking for anything fancy, just a used pop up under 3k hopefully. They just want something to crash in for a retirement cross country trip with the dog.

Got my Northstar/Texson TS1000 for around that price. Wooden frame but good quality build nonetheless. There should be a fair number on the used market.

Check out XPCamper. Casette toilet with hot water shower thats big enough for a 250 pounder. This camper is a game changer which nothing out there can compare too. :ylsmoke:

The “game changer” is what caught my eye. I just don’t see one custom, relatively expensive cottage industry camper as being a game changer in the camper world, especially in the tough economic times we are experiencing at present and for the foreseeable future.

Looking at the website a shell is $23k. To move up to a base model lists @ $47k and a fully optioned camper is $58k. At roughly triple the cost of a FWC, I don’t see triple the value. One thing that isn’t a confidence builder is the camper is a pay-as-you-go proposition in addition to a 20% deposit. At most, a 25% deposit in total should suffice if the manufacturer is to be viewed as viable.

Just my 2¢ as well. Opinions vary. Always will.

You didn't say whether your parents truck is a 1/2 or 3/4 (Or I just missed it) but weight can be an issue if it's a 1/2 ton. Good choice on a pop up.

I had an 03 Starcraft Starmate pop up camper and it was very nice. Nice in and out. Had an interior bath and shower and an exterior shower. I wouldn't consider it an expedition camper but for what you described it would fit the bill.

Im not a slide in person (doesnt exactly work with a tj ) But my parents are starting to look for one and wanted to know if there are any that had bathroom?

Its going on a 99 dodge extended cab extended bed so length shouldnt be an issue.

I'm going to have to disagree with that. I've spent over 150 nights in FWC campers. A loaded FWC is closing in on 20k these days and I don't find that a good value for the quality of the product. Sure the XP costs more than a FWC, but you should be comparing it to Sportsmobiles and Earthroamers, not FWC's and ATC's.

As much as I hate to agree with D.D., he's right on this one.:)

I did. You must have missed it. I’d definitely rather have a Sportsmobile. That will probably be my next ORV when I am ready to buy again. They are slick, no doubt about it. See below……

From their website @ http://www.xpcamper.com/ $47k for a base model camper only. No truck included.

Building one camper does not a well known camper manufacturer make. When the company folds in a year or two no one will recognize the brand name and resale value will play out accordingly. FWC and ATC are a much better value for the dollars spent. If I was approaching the kind of money asked, I’d ante up a bit more for a Sportsmobile.

My fully equipped Eagle was $16.3k in 2008. I can’t see where an unknown, one-off camper with a single unit manufactured is worth $42k more than an FWC. I could certainly afford one if I was so inclined, but I’m old school, still value a dollar andI don’t like wasting money. I suspect that dollar for dollar, the FWC will retain its value far better than this experimental camper.

And as far as…………..

Marc1, you deleted two of your posts AFTER I last responded to you. That did not go unnoticed. I can’t say that I respect that sort of thing.
