Michael, I just pushed (poked a hole for the wires) through the factory wiring harness grommet in the firewall.

Hope that helps. I used this as a guide to dismantle the dash, doesn't cover everything, but helps...

Everyone has their own solution.
My reference: I have been using this set up for 4 years - running an old style ARB MT45 with no issues. Just my .02.

Other alternatives are potentially more robust - I would like to investigate the abovementioned circuit breakers vs fuse block.

Thanks for all that Mark. I'm going to poke around and see if I can find that grommet in the firewall. That's how I ran power into my FJ62.

It's good to know you've been doing this with the older fridge like mine. I'm probably going to do the boomer hack for the fridge and try it.

I do need to get a more robust power drop for my Ham Radio so I'll be looking to get power into the cab at some point.

I use a Blue Sea 6 circuit fuse block mounted on the drivers side in the cab. There are two bolts on the left of the brake pedal with enough thread left to mount a bracket that I made. I ran the wire from the auxiliary battery with a inline fuse to the block. I also have a older Engel MT45 fridge that is hard wired in. I supply my ham radio, cb radio, the fridge, three 12v power ports, and map light. You can see the boot in the firewall just above and to the left of the fuse block where the wires come thru. This mount/location only works with a automatic as the clutch pedal assembly is in the way in a manual.

do you ever kick the fuse box by accident?

No, never have kicked it. It is up fairly high as you can just see the top of the footrest in the lower left of the picture. I've had it in place for about 4 years and never an issue.

That's EXACTLY where I have mine, and I've never touched it with my foot. It's up higher than it looks back there. My only complaint is that it's hard to reach when it's time to hook up something new. If was doing it all over again, I would put mine under the passenger side kick panel, just so it would have easier access.

I agree, the access is kind of hard but mine is full so I really never need to get to it unless a fuse blows. Doing it over I would have run it on the passenger side to ease wiring from the dual battery but at the time I did not have the dual setup.

Well,
I did the sub-woofer power tap hack today. I now have power to the fridge in the back of the rig.

I also installed the Springtail Solutions MPAC Side Rack. What a great piece of farkle! I'll have to get pics later because it got dark...

Thanks, although I cannot claim it was my idea. I found it on another FJ forum. If anyone needs/wants the template for the bracket PM your e-mail. It is for the six circuit Blue sea fuse block but I'm sure it modified.

Just curious, but why did you get rid of the roof lights? I thought those were a nice addition. That is one sharp FJC!!!

I used to have a 2007 FJC with all the TRD upgrades (in Titanium) and really liked it overall. Still have my matching 1/18th scale model that Toyota sent me when I bought it.

Time for an update.

I got rid of the top lights because I just didn't care for them. I sold the whole setup at a PMC Land Cruiser swap meet. Let's just say that somebody got a killer deal.



Here is the Springtail M-PAC side rack as it still is today. Fire extinguisher, Ham Radio, and First Aid Kit. Power wiring for the Radio and the Fridge live behind it.



I moved the fridge to the other side of rig and I'm not currently using the slid out for it, but think I might put it back.


I also upgraded the tires to some Cooper AT3's with the 10-ply E rated tires. Stock size. No plans at the moment to do any suspension work until the stock suspension is toasted.


Also added a Trasharoo in the green color of course.


After picking it up in December of 2011 with 6k miles on it I now have a little over 40k and it's been flawless since new.
