Doubtful pull is due to angled tread pattern, since I'm running tires with angled tread right now and they don't pull at all. As for pressure, if you NEVER rotated your tires, you might see some difference in wear eventually, but if you rotate them even half as often as you're supposed to, i doubt you'll see any difference at all. I never could, and I don't usually rotate tires until I can SEE that they need rotating... :)

So what are your thoughts on the 255 ST MAXX's? I've enjoyed reading your analysis on other tires. I am seriously looking at the 255/85 size for my 4runner, even though my current tires still have >50% left. Also the alignment info for the 4runner is really helpful if I ever run into this pull situation. I have the light racing UCA's and they allow plenty of alignment flexibility.

The Light Racing/SPC UCAs are a good product, had them before on my 4Runner, have them now on my Tundra project.

My brief thoughts on the 255 S/T MAXX are that I like them. The 4Runner is not my only rig and I'm focused on finishing and driving my Tundra project for the next few months. The tires have only seen several hundred miles of daily driving, no off-highway use or testing yet. Yesterday they saw some rain, and like any 255 tire, they performed well.

I'll be writing a little S/T MAXX review for The Portal's front page, but not until this summer.

I finally pulled the trigger and couldn't be happier!

Ordered up a set of 315/75R16.

Just did my first rotation @ 5k miles.

Still loving these tires, best all-around tires I've ever ran on any of my vehicles :ylsmoke:.

Yes sir! If I were to keep my TJ I was gonna get a set of Bridgers but I ended up going JK. As soon as I got my second JK back in March of '09 I was on the hunt. It took me about a week to locate 5 from one dealer. Apparently they were discontinued in early '09. Trying to find a replacement in 2013 was another story. Two months later after AEV was cleaning out their warehouse in Wixom they found a pair but in bright silver. Then I had to find someone to custom match the Argent color. And yes, I bought the pair to have an emergency back-up.

I just orderd a set of these for my 4runner. Should have them mounted on Monday. I will post up when I do. Coming from Duratracs, these tires will have some very big shoes to fill. Since GY no longer makes them with3 ply sidewalls, they no longer get my money.
The duratracs were sooo damn good, it's hard to imagine a better all rounder but I put up my money on these coopers, so we shall see.

I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised :ylsmoke:

I just had my ST Maxx's mounted and rolled home with them. The tamer tread rolls more smoothly than the Duratracs which should mean less rolling resistance which should mean better mileage (please, please PLEASE!) which should mean that I save money.. I did get a slight sensation that they wanted to wander a little when I crossed a couple of intersections, difficult to say at this point but I will be giving them the full beans soon enough. What I will say is that, when I was doing my tire researching, several people commented that these tires are larger than other brands of theirs size, BOLLOCKS! If anything these tires are smaller than their counterparts, they are an easy half inch narrower than the Duratracs.
Time will tell, but I am guardedly optimistic.

So far, very enthusiastic. Time will tell.

Fwiw, this little mud hole stopped my buddy, until he engaged his air locker: (more a fun anecdote than real evidence of anything)

Long, relatively steep climb. Obviously many have made it up, but plenty of evidence that many have not made it more than half way when you see the size of the holes dug in the loose stuff and the bend in the two track due to side slippage.

I am confused on the ratings in that table. How do you interpret their ratings in that picture? They have a couple categories that seem to have 1 as good and a couple that seem to have 10 as good but then they add them all up. They also have some categories where the tires are ranked 1-9 (like "Balancing" and "Noise") and other categories where they are more objective in which some tires are allowed to be the same (like "Mud Run").

For example, for "Tyre Noise" the Maxx gets a 9 (presumably bad as compared to the others) vs the Silent Armor which gets a 1 (presumably good), but on the "Mud Run" the Maxx gets a 10 and the Silent Armor gets a 5. I can't believe that the Silent Armor does better than the Maxx in mud, so apparently in this category the 10 is good and the 5 is average. Am I just reading the rankings wrong for the first three columns and high numbers are better? It is hard to believe that the ST/Maxx is quieter than all of the other less aggressive ATs on the list. I know it is quiet for an aggressive AT, but that quiet?
