Because of an error in my calendar, I thought cruise moab was this weekend... So, I will unfortunately not be there, but I will think of you from Baja.
The Journal will be present though, with a bunch of cool giveaways and free copies.
Ran some technical fun trails and did a 150 mile exploration of Long Canyon and a good chunk of the White Rim trail.
Had a good talk with Kurt on Wed. Thanks for the help with those fittings. Michael was very stoked to get his rear locker running again.
All in all a super fun time. Now to get ready for the solo trips coming up. The greatest shock of the trip was averaging over 16 mpg. I had 19 mpg on one downhill stretch. :xxrotflma
Wed: Vendor Show
Thurs: Rose Garden Hill (twice ) and visiting the Dewey Bridge (RIP)
Fri: Secret Spire, Dellenbaugh Tunnel and Spring Canyon Point, Dinner/Raffle
Saturday/Sunday: The SR Swell with a dozen or so Cruiserheads and twice that many of their friends
Had the chance to meet and re-meet a lot of ExPo'ers, always a pleasure
I now have two amazing years of CMs to report on that I keep remembering I need to post on... This year for me personally, had an absolute blast, possibly the best CM I've ever had... A little bit of beer and booze, some hand rolled tobacco, quite a bit of sitting at the fire, a lot of driving, a lot of wheeling, and a lot of exploring.. I bought a new little mini truck (can't remember if I mentioned it above). I did have a break one day, well supported by a few good friends so we got it fixed and home by about 9:30PM, but otherwise it was a great trip... Other than that the truck did phenominally, about 18-23mpg the whole time even with the V6 3VZ-E... Once timed and some little issues taken care of (knocking on wood) it has turned out to be an excellent engine for me...
As a result had an absolute blast.. Photos to come shortly I would imagine (some of some 400 I took )...
I had a blast as well. I met a lot of new people (although sadly I don't think I met any ExPo'ers), and my wife and kids enjoyed the other families that attended. I guess the biggest disappointment for me is that the event is so large that it's nearly impossible to meet and seek out all the people you would like to.
I ran Fins, Gold Bar Rim, Poison Spider Mesa, Moab Rim and Klondike Bluffs in my 5 days there. Moab Rim was certainly the most memorable, given the challenging obstacles and white-knuckle, off-camber driving with drop-offs down to the river. My wife walked the entire first mile, wanting nothing to do with those steep ledges....
Anyway - I'll add a few pics/videos from my collection. I'd love to see others.
