Not in the group buy but I bought a Shasta with annex and extension. Also picked up a awning with screen room. Should be here in a week or so.

i have a quick question that i hope someone can answer.

on the mt. hood/ mt. rainier, what is the distance between the rails that bolt to the underside of the tent? i know they are 6 feet long, and the tent is 4 feet wide when closed, but im curious to see if the rails will fit on my trailer without modification. I cant seem to find a real clear picture, but it looks like they are about 36 inches apart?

thanks! we should be picking ours up next week!

First of all, yay you! You're going to love your tent! :)
Unless I'm misunderstanding how you're going to put it on your trailer, the distance should not make a difference because the rails on the tent will be perpendicular to the rails on your trailer. And the bolts/plates that attach it can slide within the tent rails to wherever you need them.
(Am I saying that right you guys? Does that makes sense?)

that makes sense, im just wondering how far apart those rails are because the top of my trailer is fairly narrow, and i do not have the typical roof rack cross bars to mount it to.

it is getting mounted to this:

total opening is 39 inches, that is why i am asking. otherwise i need to weld on some pieces outside the frame to attach the trailer to.

I see what you're saying.
I'm gonna have to let one of the guys answer your question for sure though, as I have the Shasta, which is smaller. The inside distance between my rails is only about 30.5 inches, but I'm not sure about the larger tents.
Hope it works out for you though that you don't have to make any modifications. :)

I measure my Mt. Rainier about 29 1/4 from the center of the rails. Hope that helps!

y'all are gonna love this

So, I went to CA again this weekend, and came home tonight to a raging monsoon, and everything stayed dry while I was driving. woot!
Anyway here's my story from my trip -
I stayed in an RV park and the people in the space next to me had regular dome tents on the ground. As expected, they were very interested in my tent and we discussed it at length the first night. The second day, when I got back to the RV park, they told me that they were seriously considering buying one, and (get this) they asked me if they could help me set up! They wanted to see exactly how easy it was so that if/when they got one they would already know how to set it up. The husband made me laugh when he said "We're not creeper neighbors I swear!"
So of course I let them help me and when I told them we were all done, they both said "That's it? We're done?" I said "Yep we're done," and the husband looked at the wife and said "Oh we're definitely getting one of these!"
lol!
Hope everyone's having a great summer! School starts next week, so no more trips for me until September (sad). Gotta be a grownup now, sigh. (I think I got a little rusty over the summer - somebody say something ornery so I can use my teacher-voice on you...) :littlefriend:

Did anyone else buy a mesh insert for the 79 inch awning?

Well, had a chance to get out this weekend and try out the awning. The awning was great but as it turns out, the mesh was too small. Looks like they sent me the wrong size one. I'm starting to get annoyed. First, I was sent a tent annex, then I was missing mounting brackets. Now this. I even paid for repackaging of the annex to be sent back as fedex wouldn't accept it they the packaging looked.

Got to use my new RTT!!

While it was not out camping/exploring, it was a nice 3 nights. I did some trail guiding for an off road event, and popped the RTT up in a friends yard (not really one for the campground, especially during this event. Too many folks enjoying themselves all night long:snorkel:)

The weather was hot and humid on Thursday, but it cooled off in the evening. With all the windows open, the tent catches even the slightest breeze.

Friday, we had a nasty thunderstorm roll through. The rain was crazy, and I thought the wind would flip my M416 and tent!

Never experienced a storm that bad in my previous RTT.

I was really impressed on how well the tent handled it, over at the campground, there were a lot of dome tents blown over/away, and more than a few awnings and screen tents got ruined.

I didn't have the annex on, as I haven't fabbed up a rack to have the RTT high enough to make it fully usable.

I think that they just got hammered with the group buy. I had to do some extra dealings with them as well because of the UPS damage. I called immediately when it arrived and he had me accept it so I could still go on my trip with my family (my son's first camping trip). They have posted on their site that if you accept it it is yours - I did not know this at the time. They stayed true to their word and got me taken care of with a new tent. I am storing the old one for them until they can get it sold as is.

As far as the storms, my first night in our was welcomed with storms as well. We stayed completely dry up top, the annex leaked a bit (the zippers had water running in) but I think that was partially how I had it staked, and partially the fact that it was a giant thunderstorm.

How did everyone who bought a awning mount it? I have a Disco with a brown church rack as seen here:

Left a message with Bobby asking about mounts and I imagine he is busy since he is down a man until Monday so I thought I would check in here. Are we on our own for mounting brackets?

Used my Mt. Shasta this weekend

I know it's all been said, but the tent was great! No issues in high sustained winds coming off the lake Monday evening. Definitely a conversation piece and I too talked to at least one fellow that appears to be serious about getting one.
