I run the rods all the time on my LR3 combined with 275/65-18 Duratracs. It definitely drivers worse than it did stock on 19" street tires, but by no means troublesome. It's all about expectations I guess....I keep adding weight to mine (skids, sliders, bumpers...) and it keeps detracting from the road manners but I bought it as a trail rig that can be drive on the street, not a daily driver.
The ideal situation would be to install the rods then use the GAP IId tool with 2 programed heights. One for on-road and one for off. You could ride around on the road at about stock height then in about 30 seconds raise it up when you get to the trailhead. I really think the combo of the rods and the IId tool is the best case.
(I should admit I just leave mine in the stock 'rods' mode and don't follow my own advice here, but again it's not a daily driver and I admit I just like the way it looks lifted compared to the many stockers I see daily)
