New to me 2008 LR3 SE. Third row, 18" wheels. Not a lot of options that I can see.

IMG_20180925_170040618.jpg

85k miles when I got it. 2 owners but almost all of it was first one. Great shape from everything I could see. Took it to a Euro import garage for pre-buy inspection, came back with high marks, no issues.

This and other LR forums have been incredibly helpful to give me the confidence and knowledge to keep this thing running well another ten years.

Bought it to be part time commute vehicle and family hauler, and adventurer as often as possible. Most common trip for us is probably a 2-3-4 day trip around Texas, maybe into Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana. I want to take my family wherever we want, whenever we want, and be self sufficient and comfortable the entire time.

First things first: new tires. I have 5 285/60r18 Atturo Trail Blade X/T on order, and an extra matching wheel en route from eBay. Also ordered the OEM cargo barrier since I'm hauling a puppy and other stuff in the cargo area.

I'd like to start digging into the mechanical stuff as much as I can, just gotta get enough tools to get started. Or borrow them. I have a million other ideas in my head but I want to make sure this truck is healthy as she's coming up on 100k miles.

My 2007 LR3 V8 SE w/ HD package

Pretty stock for now minus 275/65-18 tires and roof rack. Waiting for my recently surgically repaired shoulder to heal so I can get to work on the winter mods list:
Winch (hidden or full custom bumper haven't decided yet)
Rear spare swing out carrier(custom build)
Sliders(custom build)
New roof rack(custom build)
Rear ladder(probably just buy one lol)

New Member Here,

Just sold what was a great LR3 SE after 13 years and 156k trouble free miles and moved into a newer, 16' LR4 HSE.

Now its all about suitably outfitting the new breed for my intended use.

Biggest challenge I see ahead is in the tires and wheel set as this one came with 20's and not really wanting to downsize wheel nor have to deal will wheel arch rubbing or need to lift and trim. Also, reading up (a lot on the iiD option to electronically adjust static ride height but still somewhat concerned about affect on geometry/alignment), same with Rods, don't care to be swapping these out. Options appear to be limited.

In terms of rigging out, I've started with the following items purchased/ordered...
  1. Swing Away Spare - couldn't find a new Ratsa to replace the one I had and used on the LR3 so opted for the Front Runner c/o Lucky8 (too bad, the Rasta was great)
  2. Roof Rack, Ladder and Flooring - going with the ProSpeed Essentials, ordered from Lucky8 (many choices, hoping I made a good one)
  3. Rock & Tree Sliders - also going with ProSpeed including their Slider plates
  4. Floor Matts - CoCo
  5. LR OEM Driving Lamps c/o Brit Part
  6. LR Splash Guards - OEM
  7. Gap iiD BT Diagnostic Tool
  8. Black Out Trim (working on graphics plan)
  9. Skid Plates/Front/Trans/Rear Fuel and Compressor
  10. Wheel & Tire Set-up, as mentioned, this is the one decision giving me the most challenge as I want a more aggressive AT type tire and will change the 20" OE alloys if I ultimately have to
Comments/Recommendations on wheel / tires set-ups with the 20's in mind will be appreciated.

You won't regret the prospeed stuff.

In terms of wheels/tires; once you get 20's grab some KO2s and that problem is sorted. Did you remove the rubbing strip or add it on?

staying with the OE 20's wheel set and paired with some Nitto G2's 265/50/R20s I had installed today. not sure what you're asking as to the rubbing strip?

One picture has one, the other doesn’t. Which one is before, which is after is what I was asking.
