I try my best to stay informed! :coffee:

Thats one thing I really love about this forum. I learn something new everyday, and people are whiling to help you out instead of make fun and criticize.

Axle Gearing: How to choose the ratio.

My truck: peak torque= 4,000 rpm, tire diameter=33.5, overdrive=.716, desired cruising speed=80 and I prefer economy over power.

(4000x0.75) x 33.5 x 1.284

80 x 336

= 4.88 :D

Not to sound like a newbie, but at 80mph on the highway is the engine going to be at 4000rpm? I'm just wondering how to calculate actual engine rpm with 4.88 or 4.56 at 80 mph with our 5 Speed autos?

Odyssey question

How has your Odyssey been working out for you? I've been looking at your model, but can't decide what I want:mad:
Great build-up by the way! Nice looking truck:beer:

Good question, but one I am currently unable to answer.

Scott's calculation called for the engine rpm's at max torque output for the engine so that is where I got 4000.

I've been looking around for a few hours, I can find a few calculators but none that go to a 5th gear auto only 4th, which doesn't help much. thats why I'm so reluctant to re-gear right now, I love the cruising rpm of 2250rpm at 75mph. Good Mileage. If re-gear to a 4.56 or 4.88 my rpm will increase allot. That why I have alway thought about putting in an Inchworm double transer case set up to take care of gearing when the wheeling gets tough.

I like Inchworm cases.

thats kinda the third next big mod after the rear bumper and chromalloy exo cage/roof rack system I'm designing right now.

After the Inchworm case is in I want to challenge the Rubicon.

Question, are the spark plugs more accessible with the sc?

This truck has got to be most PITA when it comes to a plug change.

I find them not too bad to get to before, but now that the SC is on the a bit less on one side, but the charger does overhang on the driver side blocking them a little bit. but I can still get a wrench & extension in there. I won't be worring about plugs for a while now that there's a new set from the SC install in there. The Kit come with new hotter iridium plugs and injectors.

I found a section of 3/8" rubber hose stuck in the socket works great for keeping a grip on the plug.

I'll probably have to wait until next year for a sc, too many other projects and things to do first. Suspension, winch, trailer/camper combo are the top 3.

If you ever come down to the Northeast, let me know, I'd love to check out your truck.
