Dual Scepter water can storage in a roughneck tote

I'm not sure where I saw this.. some here or elsewhere... so credit for the idea goes to that person.

I need help validating this idea though. I have a gobi roof rack and was hoping to put this up on the roof. Would it be a good idea to reinforce the tote with aluminum strips and bolt it to the rack through the tote :snorkel:

I was planning to strap the top with a ratchet strap. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for reading!

Place your strap over the outside of the tub and cans and if it does not work then all you are out of is time and effort. Go for it and see how how well it will work for your needs.

kinda curious why ?
just strap the cans down ? or get some solid mounts that don't need straps :)
to me the idea of a mount system is to stop using straps :)

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
Slick. Nice inexpensive solution.
If you're ratchet strapping them down, you really don't need to bolt it to your rack.
Don't forget drain holes...

Sure beats the hell out of spending several hundred dollars on everything else that's out there now.

Indeed, strapping them down enough will help. You could also stick some cabinet non-slip matting down to help keep it from sliding around if that becomes a problem. As mentioned above, drainholes!
