I'm a new old kid on this block and followed your overheating ordeal. I notice you're running the Warn winch which seems to cover a considerable area of the grill/radiator. I'm getting a used 9000xi for my '99 I just purchased and while trying to decide which winch bumper I want notice that some mount the winch higher than others. Wondering if I need to be more concerned about air flow/cooling or approach angle? This will not be a crawler but want it to be more along the lines of your rig (VERY NICE BTW!), more expedition, but would like to make the first choice of bumpers the best choice. For the moment I'm torn between an AJ's PHAT with low mount and the JCR DIY which is also low mounted.. but then I give up approach. Looking for recommendations and experience. Which bumper are you running Diane?

Thanks for any insight.

The bumper on Clifford is integrated with the entire exo cage; it's not a pre-fabbed model. But if we were to go the pre-fab route, we'd choose one where the winch mount is lower. A friend of ours has ORFab, the winch is lowered and it seems to work great.

Well, Clifford is running sooooo much better now! We went to Utah the last week of September, right after George pulled the corncob out of his butt. Being the loyal dog that he is, Clifford did great the whole trip, and then literally, when we pulled into our garage at home the temperature gauge shot up, I smelled coolant, and he threw up. It turned out that the crappy cheap Chinese radiator we bought only lasted one 1300 mile trip. But, the style of radiator did the trick for curing over-heating! So we ordered and installed a Mopar aluminum core/plastic tank radiator, and he's been running great ever since.

Here's some pics of my handsome boy in Utah:
