What is $75K?
Off the shelf box truck is around 65 plus tax and shipping which brings it up to around 75, and then another 50-60 for full UJOR.
I would imagine I am looking around 175 with a minimalist DIY interior.
For the amount of money I am planning to spend, I wish I could go with custom subframe and composite box, but still can't find anyone who is capable of doing this and guaranteeing I am not going to have an issue with CA DMV.

50-60k for the 4x4 conversion?!?! I've got quotes from Clydesdale vans in BC, Canada for less than $30k Canadian pesos. I don't see anything that indicates that ujoint is superior in anyway.

I think their basic conversion may be in the low to mid 30s.
My plan is to buy a new box truck within the next month or so. It will need to have the transmission pulled to convert to 4 x 4. Also, there will need to be an exhaust reroute. Custom bumpers front and rear. Rear locker. 5 tires/wheels. Roof rack. Onboard air compressor with tank. I will be carrying a small motorcycle on the back and will not have a hitch extension. This means custom elevated swing out spare tire rack, and on the opposite side another swing out with storage box. Spod inside for e locker and air compressor. The weight will always be the same, so hopefully no air bags. I may have left something out, but it will cost me much more than your basic 4 x 4 conversion.
As far as quality of workmanship and service, I've never heard a complaint. When you e mail, they respond quickly with a thorough response.
The only downside is that they are in high demand, and you may have to wait quite a while for an appointment for your build.
I've heard good things about Clydesdale vans, and if I lived in BC, I would check them out.
I'm retiring soon, and hope that this is my last build. I intend to rock climb and mountain bike around the country as long as I have a desire and the ability. I will be living in it and feel that UJOR is my best option to fulfill my dreams safely with minimal concerns of conversion issues.
