EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Paul - was wondering how EarthRoamer went about relocating the overhead speakers, or if they just discarded them. Building a camper of my own, and am scratching my head trying to come up with an alternate location.

Thanks
Jason

Hey, Jason--The "soundbar" overhead speakers got discarded before I got it. EarthRoamer also took out all of the stock padding, trim, etc. from that area.

FWIW, I did have Paul install the tweeter kit on the dash top and upgrade the at-your-knee speakers, so in the end, it sounded okay (and significantly better than stock).

Good luck with your build.

35 - Progress in and out...

P1150601.JPG

(above) I have been working on the Jeep a bit... The roof has been primed and painted with three coats of flat grey... The roof rack is mounted, so has the solar panel... Still need to put the fan in...

P1150602.JPG

(above) The light bar is hooked up and at 14k lumens turns nightime into day... Unbelievable...

P1150603.JPG

(above) Over here it looks like this...

P1150604.JPG

(above) Not too much has changed back here...

P1150605.JPG

(above) Inside, the bench seat casework has progressed... The fridge will be accessed via a drawer on a 300# full extension drawer guide... Forward of that will be two equal size drawers, each about 32" wide x 16" deep and roughly 8" high...

P1150606.JPG

(above) With the fridge, inverter and air heater installed back there, air flow is a high priority...

More later...

Coming together nice Paul :ylsmoke:

Question though....

What is the current status of the ROP?

The cage was removed for the initial build, right?

Is here anything within the cabin that specifically provides roll over protection?

I bolted a four inch square steel beam to the remaining roll cage...

Why not have the fridge slide out the back with a hinged access panel above? Seems a bit hectic to slide it out into the walkway where gear will be stowed?

Great question...!!!...

Hinging the bench seat/bed was considered, but my wife pointed out that it would be awkward to lift and keep up considering the 25"x60" size of the bench...

The placement of the fridge is designed to maximize the free floor space... If the fridge was to slide rearward, the casework would need to move towards the center of the vehicle at least two inches to allow clearance of the fridge drawer at the rear door weatherstripping...

With the fridge sliding into the floor area, it allows access to the fridge when the rear door is closed if the weather is bad or the bugs are out...

The idea is to not have any gear stored on the floor... Good planning of gear storage makes that possible...

No knock on the poster, but I am always amused at folks who either only live in the sunshine or only go out in good weather. Around the NW there are MANY times that I have no desire to get out of the vehicle to go around back to get to the fridge. Nicely thought out.

More than a few reasons forums like this seem to slow to a crawl once fall hits.

Vast majority Id say are fair weather only types.

My activity on this forum goes down in the fall specifically because it's finally cool enough to hit the desert! So yes, fair-weather is a factor, but in the reverse.

Loving the updates, Paul!

36 - Curbside Cabinet

P1150656%2B%25281%2529.JPG

(above) Fitting in as much storage space in the smallest space is always fun... The curbside cabinet has two 12" deep drawers, and the lower panel will be a hinge down door... The holes in the casework are to keep it as light as is reasonable... That way I won't feel so bad about having stone countertops...!!!...

I'm thinking of making a dedicated waste bin under the sink area... Custom sized of course... It's one thing that is easy to overlook, but is an everyday need...

There needs to be space to access the rear door handle so I can't fill in the entire area under the sink zone...

All the drawer boxes have been cut, finger joints on the corners, and just have to be glued up...

More later...
