A lot of the "over the top" is to grab attention. But when everything is over the top, simple stands out. I'm old, and simple fits me.
That said, for anyone who has built custom vehicles, the attention is in the details, and after a while the garish first impression melts away.
On the picture posted by Nomadic_ LJ, there is some very cool, and worthy stuff; The front bumper, the twin turbo Cummins diesel, Long arm lift kit with coil overs, etc.
Take away the rims, and rubber band tires, add some realistic fenders and it may even make a nice exploration rig. There is definitely some quality work in the axles and drivetrain.
Sometimes I turn my nose up right away, but when I start looking closely, the quality and depth of detail stands out. I can appreciate this, having been involved in a lot of builds over the years.
