I spotted 211.5 Jeep at SEMA 2016, and I'm pretty sure I found at least 99% of them. So many Jeep! See them all there:

The XJ front clip on the Wrangler is something I could appreciate. And the restomods of vintage Jeeps are always welcome. But the majority seem to be a variation of the same theme. How many bolt on pieces can I throw on, add gaudy tire and wheels and a flashy paint job. And all on the same truck. I'm not seeing much in the way of novation.

What's up with the random FJ Cruiser in there?

Are you talking about the goofy USSV thing in there?

Find it funny how I find the more "simplistic", less showy Jeeps more attractive. I hate the whole "stance" glamour and rubber band offroad tires to pound the mall pavement. The Hope Life JKU has to be by far my favorite SEMA Jeep build, simple but awesome

Mostly sums it up. Lots of cool little parts like superchargers, air intakes, suspension, etc..., but overall MANY of the builds are bling and very little function. It is an aftermarket product trade show, so you'll always find a full spectrum of accessories.

lol It even looks depressed... haha

I understand everyone has their own opinions and that SEMA only exists to promote vendor's products (even if they're all on only one jeep) but c'mon... It's a Wrangler. At least the "drag" jeeps are extremely unique and different. I appreciate the unique builds but the bling, along with everyone else here it seems, is just saddening to me. Even still, awesome show and pictures! Thanks for sharing.

A lot of the "over the top" is to grab attention. But when everything is over the top, simple stands out. I'm old, and simple fits me.
That said, for anyone who has built custom vehicles, the attention is in the details, and after a while the garish first impression melts away.

On the picture posted by Nomadic_ LJ, there is some very cool, and worthy stuff; The front bumper, the twin turbo Cummins diesel, Long arm lift kit with coil overs, etc.
Take away the rims, and rubber band tires, add some realistic fenders and it may even make a nice exploration rig. There is definitely some quality work in the axles and drivetrain. :)

Sometimes I turn my nose up right away, but when I start looking closely, the quality and depth of detail stands out. I can appreciate this, having been involved in a lot of builds over the years.

I dunno, this one is pretty cool:

And even though its been around a few years, I'd still rock Terremoto:

...that is an FJ, right?

Edit: I really like the older iron toward the bottom of the page. Good stuff.
