Fly Fishing

Yeah, really is me.

The expo is a great place to hang out and learn. I've been over at the Rubicon forums and the Colorado trail sites mostly.

You will rarely find me at the shop, I'm usually knee deep in the crick most days.

The Paria is an absolutely must do...it's a big sand trap though. Wild country and lots to see besides sand.

Drop me a PM before you head this way and I'll make sure you are dialed in on the fishing and any local trails.

We are pretty crazy about fly fishing down here. I have been out 7 of the last 8 weekends hitting everything from 6' wide brooks to the Chattahoochee.

From Atlanta I am about 30 min from the delayed harvest in the hooch and within 2-3 hours of some of the best mountain water on the east coast.

I am not exactly any good at this but I catch a few fish and don't hook too many trees so it is getting better.

The funny thing is that Land Cruisers got me into fishing. I spend a bunch of time in the mountains and always saw those crazy guys out in the water throwing line around and, after the divorce, decided to become obsessed. Over 1/2 of my customers fly fish; just something about Cruisers and Fly Fishing. Bird hunting is next on my list of expensive things to fall in love with.

I have been fly fishing for about 18 years now. It's my quiet time. Often I don't even care if I catch anything.

One of my favorite things to do is explore a backcountry lake and spend the day there in a canoe catching trout and watching the birds.

I have been flyfishing for about eight years and enjoy all aspects of it. I mostly dabble in salt due to the proximity but really enjoy my old creeks in Texas with those nice big ol bass in them!

A couple of weeks ago my father in law did took a guide trip for blues. The rig was a 12wt and a large streamer. The sharks were difficult to get interested in the fly but once they did....game on! This guy was in the 100lb class.

7wt,

Shark on the fly - now that's cool!

I don't have any pics of Salmon caught on a fly, but it did remind me of this. This was the first saltwater fish my wife ever caught - an ugly but very tasty Ling caught off the coast of Prince Rupert.

Growing up in TX I learned to fly fish for bluegills on their spawning beds. Using a slow sinking sponge bug I have caught over 50 in a couple of hours. My game was not a fraction of the size of yours, but none the less, great fun and filleted out and fried up wonderful eating.

That must have been a great time hooking and fighting that shark! :jump:
