FlyingWen's 2002 Jeep Liberty KJ

Looks like great work, Wil. Did the company who fab'd up the new rack make it custom for you, or did they already have a design for the KJ? It's nice because you can have the Mule for day trips, or take it off for a RTT.

Oh and you're a lot more confident with electric shenanigans than I am, so when I start to put toys in/on the Jeep, I'll be recruiting your help. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Not it's custom... You got the drift of why we opted for the Mule to be removable!
:victory:

Looks fantastic! That KJ is looking better all the time!
Thanks. I wonder what's next.... Shhh it's a secret!

How much ground clearance do you get under the front skid and rear diff with the 245 75 16's and OME lift combination? I might as well be driving a Subaru mine is so low.

Not to sure on the front. FlyingWen has it at work today. Here's a pic of the rear diff:

On mine with 265-70-16 BFGs bottom of rear pumpkin is about 9.75 if I remember right, lowest point of the stock front skid is about 11.50 to 11.75, haven't measured for a while but it was right in that area
OME Heavy Duty Springs with 3 ring clevis and 1/4 inch top plate

Tks guys. I'm on the fence about replacing or modifying the Liberty. There are some things I really like about it and some I don't.

Anyways, the subframe and bajarack look great. I really hate how so many roof racks are mounted way up high. This set up is perfect...

Wen/ Wil,
Great write up. The set up looks great. Can't wait to see the rtt on it next. :Wow1:

Also how did you bolt the rack rails down? Using the nutzerts that were already in the roof cross-member? Mine got ripped up and had to drill them out, put the bolts and nuts to hold rack down. Just a thought for a future mod.

Later,
Mike

Yeah we had issues with the OEM nutserts as well. Once the rack comes off for powdercoating we'll snap some shots for ya.

Well the pile - o - parts is building and the last part is due to arrive today from the brown truck. :victory:

  • Jeepin by Al Gen 4.5 Upper A arms
  • Custom Valved OME NS131L
  • Custom DayStar front coil spacers for the OME927's
  • Custom Valved OME N132L
  • New Rear Bump Stop
  • New OME948 rear coils
  • 5 brand new Xtreme A/T 265/75R16 to replace the GY 245/75/R16.
  • Lots of paint and primer to paint the Rubicon Wheels Black

Planning on getting the tires off today to sand, prime, and paint the rims. I had a little hesitation going to the ProComp tires, but I have heard through the grapevine that they are made by the same company that makes ******** Cepek, and some other well know brands... so we'll give them a shot, and a 40,000 mile warranty isn't bad to boot.

Next comes the interior compartment for the rear hatch.
