Very nice install Wil. I really like the way it slides all the way out to load it, I assume the tray can more than support the fridge being fully loaded and extended? Seeing your pics makes me wonder if I should've gotten a 4dr.

Wil, very cool and a very nice install. Now, we gotta see it with the two zone. Keep us posted, and get ready answer any questions I may have when I get my fridge a little down the trail.

Wil,

Truck is looking good. Have you gotten any good use out of the Engel yet? Are you planning to run a Demello bed bar? If so I have one unused that I'll sell ya for a good price.

Thanks for the compliments! I just might take you up on the bed bar (shoot me a PM). My future plans for the bed is a tool box (dual battery, air, and tools), I am thinking of adding the African Outback Drawers (?) water storage, and top it off with a rooftop tent. My set up will be very similar to Scott’s truck, with a few variances. I want my kitchen off the drivers side and tent and shower on the Passenger side. I hope to be done by the end of summer!

Damn Wil, nice job! I like the little touches like the hinge lock, and the plasti-coat. Seeing the fridge rollin' out the door of the Taco is VERY cool! I don't think I have seen that one yet!

Your truck is coming along really nice. This is fun :lurk:

Thanks, Chris! That means a lot coming from you. I was allways a fan of BajaTaco.com, and have envied your rig!

As mentioned above, I think the slide will be a nice touch for the side kitchen set up, as well as aiding in loading and unloading. I have spent a long time planning, and couldn't have planned this one... It was just dumb luck, with a great outcome.

My general thoughts on the slide are positive. So far no rattles, and slides with ease, the more weight, the easier it slides. The bearing are sealed and I think they will be highly durable. Only thing I need to do is tweak the mount, and get rid of my erector set setup I have going (I need a welder).

I am going to mount all Electrical connections under the slide, and hope to have some room to spare.

Will,
You truck is coming along very nicely. I've very envious. Ditto on the BajaTaco.com. A few questions about the eye brackets that you installed behind the handles to use for tie down points. Did these come with the Engel or the Slide? Was the Transit Bag “pre cut” to accommodate these?
The install is real nice and professional looking. The slide out through the door is a very nice touch indeed. Job well done. I just wish that I had a Double Cab instead of the Extra Cab. It seems to make access to items in the rear much easier.
Cheers ,

Yes they come with the slide.

No the bag was not pre-cut, however on the front it did have the stiching to cut it out... for some reason the back did not have this feature.

Let me know if you want pics, or anything along those lines.

On going shoe battle!

Over the weekend I got new shoes, again! This is my third set of tires since the ExPo Rally, and hope these ones stick for a while.

I too joined the club, and ended up with a set of 255/85 R16 BFG MT/KM. Not to bad, fit snugly, and as you can see anxiously await some Hoe's and Deavers. I think the Deavers, will be first on my list since they move the rear axle forward a 1/2 inch. It is needed as you can see:

They do not rub anywhere, but I have not yet flexed the taco and test it out, I am sure it will and I'll need to modify the pinch weld and take off the mud flaps.

I'll update this post once test results are in.

Very nice Wil. Good looking shoes on the Taco. What did you do with the old new set? They surely were not that worn, were they?

BlueSea Fuse Block

I also got around to installing my auxiliary fuse block. It is a Blue Sea block from West Marine (thanks Bajataco, DesertDude, Expeditionswest). These are really nice units, and a bargain compared to other units on the market.

Although, my installation is only temporary, it is beginning to serve it's purpose. It will later be moved to the rear tool box, along with a second battery. It will support the full time power requirement units, such as the radios, Engel, lights, ect...

For the time being I mounted it to the rear wall using an old 4 ga. amplifier kit I had laying around. The pro to this is that it has an in line fuse on the positive cable, that will help prevent an fires, or melt downs.

In the last picture you can see my *temporary* Engel hook-up. I twisted the wires to prevent electrical interference with the CB.

Umm.. What set? LOL. Set one was the GY Wrangler's which got punctured on the way home from the Rally, (there's a post somewhere around her about that!)

Set two, was to replace the GY's and were BFG All Terrain KO's. They had about 2,000 miles on them, and Discount tire could never quite balance them out, causing my dash rattle to be more pronounced. I took them in to have them rebalanced for the 5th time in about 6 weeks, since they would not deem them out of round. While in line at discount tire, I thought about the commercial of the old lady "returning" the tire through the window. Bam! Now I was returning the tires. So I returned the set of BFG KO's, and upgraded to the MT's for about $50. Best part of all this was they were super nice about it and had no problems helping me out. I have to give to them, they may be slow, but the customer service, rocks. Just plan on half a day, but it is so worth it at Discount tire.
