I never said require, but the firearms community should put overwhelming social pressure on its members to ensure they do. Along with secure storage.

Believe what you want about rights, but there is fantasy and there is reality. If gun owners do not hold accountable our own, the government will absolutely do it for us.

I am not disagreeing. I am saying that according the Constitution we have the right to keep and bear arms, and this shall not be infringed. Anything that limits this is an infringement. If this keeping and bearing of arms should have limits the shall not be infringed should be removed from the Constitution. Until that happens these laws are an infringement.

I find it interesting how "proper4wd" will stop addressing/responding to certain posters once they have proven him wrong, but at least he is amusing in the fact that he simply doesn't give up no matter how asinine his ideas may seem. So good on you there guy, I will check back later for more entertainment.

MOguy I get what you're saying, and I think you are on the right side of history. This internet discussion isn't going to change anyones mind on either side. Heck we've got people that believe contrary to the oaths they took.

then you be wrong. people have issue with it, because guns dont kill people, people with guns kill people. and being deadly force isnt needed in the situation you and the "starer" find yourselves in, they can with statistical certainty reason the only individual that poses a threat to them at that time is YOU.

That's your opinion of course, and in the grand scheme of things it carries about as much weight as mine.

People also kill people with knives, baseball bats, cars, and any number of other things.

In any case, I think I'm out because this conversation serves about as much purpose as Democrat vs Republican, catholic vs everything else, and any number of topics divided along the my way is the best way mentality.

A carbine is shorter than a rifle. They come in many varieties can be useful in more confining areas.

Um...yea. I knew that.

You planning to tell me water is wet and fire is hot while you're at it? :)

Here is place where I disagree. I hold and elected position in a very small community. Social media is POWERFUL. Maybe not here in a forum between us but you can use the net to be herd.

Why do you 'open' carry?

I have not found a single functional argument for open carry if the option for concealed carry exists. Tactically and statistically, it is more dangerous than not carrying at all... Just something to consider.

When I worked on the family ranch, I open carried on the horse. I will often carry my USP 45 in a cross-draw shoulder holster when I am driving in the outback. But I never, ever open carry in populated areas.
Mainly because I can not conceal it the way I dress. Now in winter it's concealed by my coat.
Its my belief (and is also a proven point in a lot of cases) that the presence of a gun will detour a thug. Its also a known fact that most thugs are cowards and want no conflict. A gun on my hip tells them 1 thing, they will be met with conflict if they rob the restaurant I am in. These cowards will go on down the road to a different target. And before you claim "I'm making myself the first target by displaying a gun". Thats BS. Cowards, remember? And these cowards mostely want to get some drug money, not murder someone.

So what we should do is all us good gun owners who concealed carry should put pressure on the bad gun owners who open carry to encourage them to do as we do?

We need to encourage responsible gun ownership actions. I made no mention of concealed carry. I specifically mentioned training and safe storage.
