Ford Takes @ $20 BILLION ‘Write Down’ and Dumps the EV F-150 Lightning

Yes, I'm aware of your position but AFAIK nobody in the US has been forced to choose an EV. ;) Unfortunately the science that drives the move from fossil fuels is still there, even if we choose to ignore it. US auto makers will just have to catch up when our current situation passes.
People buys cars for a myriad of reasons- and science is rarely a factor. Heck look at most of the junk that people buy and it’s obvious most decisions are emotional. It’s not my position- I am just stating the obvious. I personally own a hybrid and a gas guzzler…

The lightning was a horrible idea from the get go. I am shocked it was around for this long even.

Good job Ford, get back to doing what they always do and bring back the REAL lightning truck.

Eventually the tech will be better and cheaper and an electric truck will make a lot more sense. I a shopping for new batteries for my trolling motor was going to get agm batteries. I priced out 3 group 31 agm batteries and went and looked I can get lithium’s cheaper than agm now so I’m making the switch

Not yet. But the companies were being forced to make them (and try to sell them) in order to reach CAFE standards, else they had to pay financial penalties.

Let us not forget the mandates that morons in government keep trying to force down the public throats. https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/resources/fa...ms-zero-emission-2035-executive-order-n-79-20

The buying public have proven that EV's are just not a viable answer for the majority, those that found EV's to fit their requirements have purchased EV's while the rest of the buyers have stayed with ICE powered vehicles, thus the market for EV's stagnated and manufacturers have moved back to selling what the buyers want, that's capitalism 101 and some Americans don't approve and are upset, but the buying public will spend their money how and where they want, that is a proven fact, no matter if others approve or not.

Human nature is what it is, I too own both a truck and a hybrid. Nevertheless, promoting EVs is a sound and appropriate policy of the gov't. The need for an alternative to fossil fuel isn't going away. It's also important not to confuse our governmental system with economics. We are a representative democracy. We are also primarily capitalistic but the two are not mutually dependent. Many of our most successful gov't endeavors are not capitalistic in nature. National defense, public education, Social Security and Medicare are the most obvious. Personally, I agree that current EV trucks are of limited use but there are still lots of people who could use an EV for a daily driver and the gov't has a legitimate interest in promoting adoption. There's no reason to gloat over this temporary abandonment of responsibility.

Nope. If it worked like that we'd still be buying unleaded gas, be addicted to a pack a day and selecting a cute 16 year old at our local bordello.

Some things change, we still buy unleaded gas, not sure where you live, lots of smokers still around, not gonna dignify the ignorance of the last point.

Simple case in point, if the buying public were spending vast amounts buying EV's, manufacturers wouldn't be cancelling EV models and wouldn't have the surplus amount of EV's they have, the manufacturers also wouldn't spend money on ICE vehicle R&D or bringing back shelved ICE models like they currently are.

There's no reason to gloat over this temporary abandonment of responsibility.

How naive and/or ignorant to conflate the simple pointing out of facts with "gloating".

Once again, anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle is free, for now, to make the choice on propulsion, be it electricity or fossil fuel, facts are the majority are not buying electricity power for whatever reason, so the manufacturers are responding to the demand of the buyers.

I'm sorry but you are in my lane now and you are just wrong. I realize I'm wasting time. I guess you have some expertise in vintage Chevys so think how you would respond if some guy on the internet posted they were all built in Brazil or some other foolishness. Over and out.

The facts prove you wrong, the facts are that EV sales have plateaued in America, models are bring dropped while ICE vehicles are being brought back from the dust bin.

Then you devolve into a nonsensical rant about what you think about me based on what you have read here on the portal, so sad yet so typical of users who rave about EV's yet don't actually own one, as proven by your own posts here.
