Yes i will be adding a steering damper, I did consider rear coil suspension but prefer the leafs springs, they handle loads better than coils, its simple and the ride would'nt be much different, the front is the critical end sitting over the front wheels.

Awesome! Thanks for the updates! Did you mention the brand of tires? They look nice and mean! Can't wait to see more!

Hi Bob,
The tires are silverstone 35"x16" these will only be for weekend trips, I have new alloy rims coming this week which will have more road style tires on them.

Looks like this thing is going to be amazing when finished.

Reading through builds like this always makes me wish I had better, well lets be honest any, metal working skills.

A little more progress, got the intercooler mounted, the towbar is mostly done and the steering damper is mounted, the mounting bracket also acts as a diff protector.

As usual, it looks like you have been having fun Alan.
Looks like you are using 75mm x 5mm SHS for that rear bar; is that right? Out of interest, what is going to be fitted at the ends of this rear bar?
What capacity is your rear winch?

The cross tube is 90mm and the centre tube 75mm, so it a bigger version of a hayman reece type towbar, I don't plan on towing anything but you never know, mainly for recovery etc, the outer pins are for anchoring the truck from the side once again for recovery etc, the back winch is rated at 10,000lb, the front winch is 16,000lb.

you know what would look good sitting under that yellow cab (im assuming your going to stick with yellow just in case someone doesnt see it)
think a 6.5 litre chev V8 deisel with aftermarket valley supercharger
im not sure if one would fit but im sure if its possible your the man to do it
with the amount of effort your putting into this truck the standard 4 banger just doent seem right
love your work!!!

no v8 for this truck i have been down that road before the conversions never workout there's always little bugs that can never be ironed out, keep it simple and off the shelve.
Having said that this motor won't be standard, it should have at least 50% more power than a standard engine easily.

I have not decided on where to mount spare wheels as yet, behind cab, or behind camper or on the side, i have a yamaha tw200 i want to mount on the back.

Wow Alan. Really coming along now. What are your plans for the motor?

If your throwing a fat little TW up the back, the wheels might be best there too. That'll make use of the space between the bike and the back wall as a result of the handlebar width. Maybe overall you won't loose as much space if you do that. Then you can also utilise the same lifting arrangement for the wheels as well as the bike. I like those winch arm set ups for dragging the bike up a ramp and possibly a ramp might be all you need for those light wheels of yours anyway.....just a thought. Again >> looks great.

Regards John.

I carry my v strom on a custom bike loader on the back, its got pretty wide bars and ive got it as far back as possible without compromising balance for loading
not a great deal of room between the bike and wall even for the 7.50
the monsters alan has on his beast will take up heaps of space
I carry my spare between cab and body the additional room leaves me space for tool box, jerry cans and boat fuel tank
