Future Toyota 4x4s for the US Market

Glad to see its not just us Nissan Xterra guys worrying over all this type of stuff...

I loved the Toyota I have owned (Sequoia Gen 1) But for what I bought it did seem overly priced.

To me the latest FJ was just too much of a pig to be a true Jeep competitor. Have any of you guys asked why the JK is selling so well right now?
Jeep guys are so trendy and have money to spend. Look at the aftermarket for god sakes.. When Jeep upgraded to the latest motor all those cats just had to have it...

I feel like all these auto makers need to scale down the Mid sized SUV / Trucks.. They are just getting to large..
Also how can any car maker build a new audience when most of the SUV /trucks start at 30k. Nissan / Toyota need to go back to the basics.
Scale down the trucks and start them in the 23k range.

General public will buy it if priced accordingly.

Just look at the JK's

They already do, the 76 Series, it's sold in many countries outside of the US.

If Toyota thought these bare bone vehicles would sell in the US they would make damn sure they were compliant and would sell them but the general US buying public don't want them. Remember people on here are a small niche market that in many cases don't buy new vehicles.

While we're dreaming, can we get all the auto manufacturers to bring back the options list? I'd love to do away with these "package deals" of thousands of dollars of crap you don't want just to get an option you do want. The old fashioned "check the box" to pick your options was great.
4WD: check
Automatic: check
V8: check
AC: check
Vinyl flooring, carpet delete: check
HD cooling system: check
24 inch rims: no check, just making sure you're paying attention
steel rims: check
offroad tires: check
transmission cooler: check

I have to agree with you there. Before I bought my used Tacoma, I took a look at a new Colorado seeing I got a discount through my dad. I told the salesman that I absolutely hated how you had to buy everything through a "package" and there were certain items in different packages I liked. Once I was in the Colorado, it was an easy choice to go with the used Taco after seeing the interior fit and finish anyway.

You can still do that with the domestics.

but, but...auto tranny!!??:ylsmoke:

That is my biggest gripe with the current truck market, manual trans is a rare bird anymore.

Not sure why the Japanese only offer packages, cost effectiveness I am guessing.
Their packages with the Tacoma is odd. You can get a stripper Tacoma 4WD, but once you start upgraded you loose some
of the stripped down beauty. Manual windows in the regular cab, go to the access cab you have to go power, no V6 available in the regular
cab either. Manny trans in the DCSB, but auto only in the DCLB.

While so many here prefer diesels and manuals, my preference runs to V8s and automatics. I've had sticks before and while they're fun in a musclecar, or a sports car the auto is much more forgiving and easier to drive offroad.....and if need be I can still drive it easily with a broken leg......
